Hi folks,
wondering if you guys can help me out, I have this problem viewing xbox on my tv because i moved my xbox from the UK to Japan, and I want to chip my xbox to allow me to switch it from PAL to NTSC using Enigma. (old problem is here: http://www.xbox-hq.com/html/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&p=57247#57247 )
So, i have looked around like a million tv's in japan and they simply dont have anything but a rolling NTSC screen, which means I gotta chip and upgrade xbox without seeing the screen (or maybe a little- but its difficult).
I'm getting a Zenium ice solderless kit, and putting it in i think wont be too much hassle, but flashing my chip is more of a problem because i cant see the screens. Can anyone give me a layout of the interface of the zenium BIOS? For example, if i want to back the eeprom its 'fourth on the list' so i just move the cursor down to the forth (i have to guess).
Or anyone with screen shots would be great. I have the Manual, but its pretty fuzzy here and it doesnt show all the menus. Once i sort out the chip, i can then use enigmah and see everything in bright technicolour (hopefullY)
Yorishikune!

good luck to you. i wonder if its possible to make disk that autodetected the region of the tv. or even have the enigmah disk say something like if you8 can read this press a+b+y and if you didn't press it, it would switch the region after 10 seconds. kinda like the screen resolution thingy on XP. if you change it you have to push a button to keep it, an if it screws up your screeen it changes back if no button is pushed. well that for the most part doesn't help you one bit lol but hopefully someone will come along

Hey CrazyFruitbat,
I'll be more than happy to walk you through the flashing process. Just let us know HOW you plan on flashing the chip. HTTP? FTP to HDD? cd-rw? I suggest sending the bios to the xbox via ftp, and flashing from there. The interface is pretty straight-forward and not alot of steps. Hope we can help. _________________

Thanks for you help,
sorry no reply, been stuck in hospital with a heart problem - no i didnt get a shock from my xbox before anyone asks.
impwiz you are a saint, all the help i can get would be appreciated.
I will probably do via ftp, everyone says its the easiest method.
I have one more question - i have 1.0 box, and i was about to click buy on a site for a xenium solderless SPICE, but i realised that it some manuals say that i have to 'de-solder the points at the LPC', i have never owned or soldering iron or even held one. does this mean i have to so this to get the PIN heads in place. is there an easier way than using an iron??
This is all starting to snowball now!

Hey Crazy go with the xenium ice, NOT the spice. For a 1.0, the spice adaptor is not needed. It's only necessarry on 1.6v xbox. And as far as the LCP holes, my 1.0 holes were filled with solder. Some claim the adapter will work just placed ontop of the soldered in holes. I personally de-soldered mine. I never touched an iron either. (hence the no solder chip) It went perfect. Let us know when you get the chip. P.S. hope you fell better. _________________

Ah, damn it - i just ordered the Spice - i wont have any problems with it will i?
Grrr
So, if i cant get a connection the best thing to do it look into desoldering huh? Scary!
Thanks, chip should be here this week. Japan doesnt have many suppliers over here so i ordered mine from the back home (uk)
Thanks for the help, i need it! haha

CrazyFB, the spice package just comes with a couple more pieces you won't need, (sp universal adaptor, template piece) but it will work on your xbox. Sell the sp adator on ebay, someone out there needs one of those... _________________

Sure thing CFB,
1: Power your xbox on and make sure you can get a connection with any FTP program (like FlashFTP). Also make sure you can see the directories (i.e. CEFXYZ). Don't worry if you can veiw the contents of the folders from the FTP program.
2: Place your bios in the C: directory using FTP prog (i assume you have bios or know how to get one) m8plus is a good one for your xbox and chip.
3: your xbox should still be on. Press A once. Then, press down, A, A, A. Ok, this is a browser window of your c: drive, mine is probably different than yours,
4: I think you want to press, down, down, down, down, down, A. It now should ask for a bank name. Just press down, down, down, A. Now the LED section (LED on chip), press down and A, your chip should light up RED, and the flashing process should start. Wait ~5 seconds, then press up and A. That should launch the bios. (you still need to put evox on there, so it probably won't load all the way. Just reboot after.) revert back to step 3 if you select the wrong file.
Some important notes: Don't FTP transfer evox until you have sucessfully flashed your chip, this will add more files to C:\, and make matters more complicated. After you moved all folders and files of evox to C:\ and your chip is flashed, Reboot the xbox. Press eject to turn it on, then press A, A, A. This should boot up evox. The next part is getting the homebrew "regional switcher" we mentioned prior, and navigating the evox menu.
Any questions you have, ask away. I will be at work tonight, but I always check up on these forums with my phone. I don't have my xbox at work.....yet but know the OS and dash menus fairly well. Good luck, hope this gets you fixed up. _________________

You know, I wonder if you could have just softmodded your XBOX and change the reigon in system settings under evox. To be able to do that, you could have gotten one of the sweet little Hip Gear LCD screens. I'm pretty sure those are universal...I don't know. Just a thought.

Eipnacirema,
That's a really good idea if those hip gear screens did work on any region setting. _________________
