This probably sounds like a real noob question....but...Why can't I bypass the memory card?

I've read many tutorials that explain how to copy files from a modded xbox via FTP to the memory card, which is what I plan to do very soon. But I was thinking....if there's a saved games folder on the xbox HDD hard drive, then why can't I just place the saved game files directly in that folder via FTP instead of putting them on the memory card first? When the transfer from the memory card to the xbox occurs, doesn't it just place these files in the saved folder anyway?

I'm sure there's a really good reason that I just don't know since I haven't done this yet. Just really curious to find out the answer.

Any insight would be grealy appreciated!

Thanks.

Putting the files onto a memory card is only usefull when you want to softmod a retail xbox. There is nothing stopping you putting these files directly onto a modded xbox`s hdd but it can`t be done on a un modded xbox.

when you have the files on the memory card you can then transferre them with the gamesave manager on ms dash on the non modded box.

Great! So, it seems then that I don't need a memory card, since I have FTP access to my modified xbox. I can just put the files in the saved folders and run SID 3.0.

Thanks so much. I didn't want to waste my time trying something that wasn't going to work.

Cool Very Happy

Yeah...but one has to ask, WHY would you want/need to run SID 3.0 on a modded box? AID 2.11 Final will boot just fine on a modded box if you're just looking for a way to get the dashboards and applications installed. One of us is missing something here (and it very well could be me). Razz

Well, good question.

I have a solderless modchip that keeps slipping and is stripping my D0 point. It's an Xecuter Lite Plus with a very sharp edge for the D0. To avoid damaging the motherboard and killing the D0 point, and more importantly - avoid spending even more money on these modchips....I am going to softmod it. Then I can take out the modchip. No more chip slipping stress Very Happy
