HELLO!
I just got my Xbox (used) on Wednesday. I was looking forward to modding it so I can play roms on it instead of my PC.
I followed the instructions on softmodding and I believe everything went fine (EVO X install).
I then got a new HDD (Western Digital WD1200JBRTL) on sale at Best Buy. I should of checked to see if it was lockable before purchasing it.
I followed the tutorial from this page:
http://www.techfreaks.org/articles/modxbox2.shtml
One thing I noticed on that page is that it mentions:
"Connect to your Xbox via FTP and navigate to E:\backup\MS. If you used my first article, there should be a file called eeprom.bin in there. Transfer that file to your local \xboxhdm\linux\eeprom folder. "
I don't have that file in the E: drive but I saw it in the C: drive and was wondering if he made a mistake?
I followed the tutorial for softmodding step by step so how come that file isn't in the E: drive?
So anyway, I decide to continue with the tutorial for upgrading the HDD and everything went well up until the last part which was LOCKING the HDD. I get this message when I try to LOCK it:
"Drive on Primary Master is FROZEN. Can not change the security status of a FROZEN drive."
Am I out of luck?
I did try searching but didn't find anything specifically on FROZEN HDD's.
Any help would be much appreciated.

Hey Homer,
I'm a bit new to this but I was having the same problem. Tried it on my pc and 2 other friends pc's to no avail. it seems that some pc's just don't like locking. Anyways with the help of sjohn (hope that's his name) on here, pointed me in the right direction. There is a program called chimp 2.4 that you can load as app on your Xbox via FTP, here is a link
Kind of an out there way but it worked for me, and since I had gotten to the last step B4 getting the frozen error(when on pc), and the new HDD I was trying to use already had the files on it, all i had to do was choose the lock option in Chimp and not have to actually use the clone option.
Hope this helps, and if I got anything wrong or missed anything someone else could jump in.
Also I forgot to mention you need a power splitter and i got mine at radio shack for $5.00

Thanks fella's!
Got it working using the Chimp software. I DID have to reformat the HDD in chimp even though I had previously done it through the other tutorial.

the frozen error is because you forgot to disable the hd in the bios (pc)
some pc's make the disk frozen if they get detected .
