hi, I'm trying to help my friend swap harddrives from the stock one, to a 120 GB one...but I can't lock it because his eeprom.bin got deleted off his xbox!!
(his softmodded box works fine, so I'm guessing there's a way to get the HD password someother way....)
so how can I find it?

and I've read about this "hotswap" but I don't know if that's what I need...I have my xbox working fine with the stock hd, and a 120 GB UNLOCKED harddrive that I need to lock to my xbox...

I may be confusing the issue here, but if the stock softmodded hard drive works, then you should be able to put that drive back into the xbox, re-run Evox's backup option or use config magic to create a new eeprom.bin file to use to lock the new drive with.

ok i found my xbox HDD key now i just need someone to walk me through how to put that in on the freedos program so that i can lock my hd...i would be greatly appreciated!!!

read the xboxhdm 1.9 readme file and use that program. Should be straight forward from there.

ok, I just realized that hte HDD key is not the same as the eeprom password...I don't know how to create a new eeprom.bin with config magic, because I can't figure out how to run config magic. can anyone help me out?
all I need to know is what my HDD password is, so if there's another way besides with the eeprom.bin, that'd be great help too, thanks!

The HDD lock key is BASED on the XBox unique eeprom.bin. There is no way to get it without the original xbox eeprom.bin OR some serious 128-bit hacker tools and CPU time. Seriously, the ONLY reasonable way I've heard of to get this resolved is to install a mod chip at this point.
