Alright guys I just got an xbox from a friend $50 so I really didn't want to pass it up. From what I've read its a version 1.6, I'm not sure A or B, build date 2004-10-11. I'm looking for a mod-chip possibly more (Case mods, maybe HDD) If you guys could give me a few posts to either look at or some suggestions on which mod chips will work (Solderless please). I'm also searching through posts right now but I just didn't want to miss anything.

Hi EVLWN and welcome to HQ..
Ok.. With modchips really its just personalyl choice.. I always suggest buying a highly advertised modchip so you know for a fact there will be many users with it and support available.
My Suggestions:
- SmartX
- Xenium
- Xectuer2.x
- Xecuter3.x
There are just so many.. A trick too would be to check out our MEMBERS SIGNATURES in their forum posts.. In each members post you can see what machine they have.. What modchip etc etc..
Apart from that.. Once you get your modchip installed all you will need to do is get a hacked bios like say the EVOX M8 BIOS for v1.6 XBOXES..
Then you flash your modchip as per instructions with this .bin file..
Once its flashed you can then boot backups, autoinstallers etc etc.
I would then suggest you download and burn the Auto Installer Deluxe program for xbox to a DVD-R and then boot it.
You can choose to install anything you want directly from your xbox.

Alright when look at most of the solderless chips it still looks as though I would have to solder wires on the MB, according to most of the install manuals. Is this true?

Personally ive always soldiered my chips.. I havent done a solderless yet.
So maybe wait for someone else to reply or start a new topic.

xenium spice is completely solderless and works with the 1.6. team xecuter also makes an adaptor for 1.6 specifically. The wires you saw soldered were probably for hdd and lan activity LED's, and aren't required for installation. Check out the recent xecuter3 vs xenium tread. This will give some of our insight on the chips.

AHH, free call girls are the best What was the topic again? Oh, yeah Xenium would be the way to go in my opinion. Easy to install and full of treats. Damn, did I just agree with Shark2th again? This is getting wierd. _________________
