I need help.
I used a softmod called total hunk.
I used Splinter Cell exploit and it was going good for a while.
I coppied the gamesaves to the xbox then started linix ok.
I got a softmod screen and all seemed good.
I did a backup of my xbox HD and that worked.
The next thing it says is to insert the autoinstaller disk and choose
Install Softmod. I did that and it got about 90 % done then quit.
I selected continue softmod install from the menu and again it got to 90 % but did not quit. It just stayed there with the progress bar showing 90%
I waited about 20 minutes and reallised that it had locked up.
I rebooted and I get a "Call Microsoft for Help" screen with no error code and multi language.
What I am looking for is a way to restore it to normal and do the softmod again or use a different one. Maybe even do a chip install type mod.
I tried xboxhdm with no success. I tried a different HD but the backup is on the original HD. Is there a way to save my xbox?

Read this thread and hot swap (since I assume you don't have the eeprom.bin either). You'll need a free IDE port on a PC and use the xboxhdm tool. Make sure you have a display cable plugged into your xbox.

I tried the hotswap thing and it worked up to a point.
After it formatted the HD it ejected the CD and said insert CD with C and E files.
I cannot find any info on how to get them. The backup I made was on E
Is this erased now or can I mount the E drive in linux and copy them?
Also, How do I mount the E drive? The hard drive is hda so the E drive should be hda2? I cannot remember how to mount a partition...
I need more help unfortunately...Thanks for the help so far...Rick

so now that your xbox hard drive is empty, and I am assuming you turned off your pc, which would lock the hard drive, you can no longer hotswap it.

I installed a maxtor 80 GB hard drive 6Y080L0 which is on the list of approved hard drives.
I used xboxhdm_v1.9 and hot swap. Everything went good until I
hooked up the xbox and got FRAG and call microsoft screen.
Is there something else I have to do? Please let me know..Thanks Rick

I must be the first one to see this screen with no number in the top left corner because there is definately no number anywhere on this screen just call microsoft in lots of diff languages...Rick

Can you take a picture of it and post it? If you are right, it will be a good first sighting documentation...
Have you tried washing the gunk off the upper left corner of your TV screen?
