I've done tons of reading about the SID process. I have a Xbox to USB cable coming in the mail to transfer the sofmod files via Flash Stick. From that point on and then using the AID 2.11 disk to start the menu makes sense. Where I get lost is how I add a larger drive. I read somewhere the eeprom file needs to be backup up on to a PC. I would image by transfering via FTP. Once I have this file, eeprom on my machine, what do I do with it? How do I get this virgin hard drive ready to be placed in the Xbox? Or am I off track here?
The excerpt below, I pulled this from aideluxe.com, which really confuses me. It makes it sound as if I can just put the virgin drive right in the Xbox, pop in the DVD and BLAM, everything is set. Wouldnt that be nice.
"Chapter 6: Preparing your Xbox HDD
Format your Hard Drive
If you have a virgin HDD (meaning you’ve just bought it and it’s not formatted), Auto-Installer Deluxe v2.0 can automatically format the drive for you (thanks to the wonders of the UnleashX system which powers Auto-Installer Deluxe). Although, there might be times where it might not format your F and G Partitions properly. Go to the Format / Prepare HDD option and format the drives again after you’ve done a reboot on the initial format.
If your HDD is already set up, you can use this to completely wipe a partition clean. However, if you are only upgrading your apps etc (for argument’s sake let’s say they are on D Drive) it would be wiser to use the File Manager and delete files and folders you don’t want. This way there is no risk in formatting the partition and losing games, emulators etc.
"
Also, should I just wait until AID 3.0 comes out, and what are the advantages/features of this new version?

You can if you have a modchip fitted.. But unfortunately you went the softmod method so you will have quiet alot to do.
Heres some links to pirrups softmod upgraded hdd tutorials.. This is exactly what you need to do to get your softmodded xbox working with a new larger hdd..
also, you need to backup your eeprom and other info using EVOX or CONFIG MAGIC once you have your xbox softmodded.. If you use EVOX to backup your eeprom it creates a C:\Backup directory on your xbox hdd.. THen you just ftp the files over to your pc for backup.
