Hello. First this is where the problem started. I soft moded my xbox. I ran Auto installer. I tried to extract all the emulators. I noticed there was a lot of emus i had no intentions on ever using. Foolishy I formated the hd. I loaded the emus I desired and restarted the xbox without loading a dash. I recieved eror 21. I frantically read the hot swap tutorial and preceded to try it out. It failed saying the hd was locked. Uncertain that the hotswap procedure if done correctly would unlock the hd. Heres the big problem, In the xboxhdm I selected option 4 and went to the atawpd exe. I tried to unlock the harddrive and it didnt work. Like an IDIOT I changed the master and user pw. I then tried to unlock the hard drive and it said the action was completed. I retried the pirrup hotswap and it said the hd was still locked. I just read a bunch of forums today and know have a better idea of the hd locking and unlocking. I am freaking out. My question is since I changed the password will the xbox be able to unlock it? Did I really ever succesfully change the password seeing as the xboxhdm says its still locked? Is there anyway out of this if the passwords did change? Can some one help me? I know Im idiot. Shocked

Holy sh*t! This sounds like a job for pirrup. If anyone can get you out of this it's him. If you had a chip, you'd recover quicker than you can respawn in Halo. Very Happy

I installed a spider chip at first. When I tried to load the bios, the controller wasnt responing when i had the chip on. I checked everything and one of the wires was in the wrong place so i fixed. I had the on/off switch still connected to the case and the chip. The case fell over and pulled the chip to the side and it broke one of the spring loaded pogos. I brought the chip to work to try and have our assembly guy replace it and he recked the hell out of the chip. Id put another one in however now i have solder in the relays and i didnt wanna mess up the motherboard. So i softmodded it and here I am. I dont have much luck not to mention being an ill prepared moron.

In this case would I be able to default the passwords and then try the hot swap?

WOW! And I thought I had problems...grin. I think there is a fable about making a bad thing worse that applies to you...grin. There is a lot going on in your situation, that I'm not certain what did or did NOT happen that makes any answer I give you, questionable.

First question, do you REALLLLLY have anything on your drive that is that important? If not, an 8GB door stop really isn't that big of a mistake (or that costly). Just go get a new drive and lock it with xboxhdm with your backup copy of your original eeprom (uh...you did make a copy of that before all this bad stuff happened, right)?

Another point, Error 21 isn't a missing dashboard, it is a problem with not having all the files errased on the C:/ for AID 2.11 Final to boot IMH experience. Normally, you should get Error 13 with missing dash. So, try to resoft mod through the game exploit, when you get to the UnleashedX display, install Softmod, install a dash and then delete everything in the C:\ except the SID folder and reboot AID 2.11 Final. Oh, and depending on what DVD drive you have in your box, you may be having problems reading the ISO burn of that AID 2.11 Final. If you are using a CD-RW, try moving to a DVD+R or +RW burn of the AID 2.11 Final.

Last question, do you have the softmod xploit save game still on that HDD, and can you boot games? If not you may be in trouble.

None that I know of on a non-chipped board. I think most chipped boards can run the HDD without it being locked, which means you could at least get to the point where you could run the tools to read the EEPROM and then get it FTP'ed off to manually lock a new drive with the EEPROM key...
