I softmodded my Xbox about 2 months ago and everything was working fine until 2 days after I first FTP'd to it. I was about to put some files on my xbox, but I misclicked and clicked on C. It was taking forever to open, so I tried to close FlashFXP, but it stopped responding, so I ended the process. I attempted to FTP a few hours later and got an annoying error - Server can't open data connection. This is the complete set of details from CuteFTP (FlashFXP's trial ran out);
STATUS:> Getting listing ""...

ERROR:> Server can't open data connection.
ERROR:> Failed to establish data socket.
FlashFXP gave almost exactly the same error, but had "List error" instead of "Failed to establish data socket.".
My computers settings, according to ipconfig/all are;
IP Address........192.168.0.100
DHCP Enabled......no
Subnet Mask.......255.255.255.0
Default Gateway...192.168.0.1
And my Xbox's are;
Type..............Static
IP Address........192.168.0.200
Subnet Mask.......255.255.255.0
Default Gateway...192.168.0.1
FTP is enabled and the password is xbox, I'm using a crossover cable (I think...) which could be damaged (though I don't think so) and I'm not using a router as I don't need one. I have also tried my old computer, which is a bit retarded, for lack of a better word (can't access the net/networks,has problems with autorun etc, etc.) but to no avail. I softmodded with Krayzie's UXE exploit and I use EvoX. I can FTP from my brother's pc, be he doesn't like me using it.
Also, I noticed that Auto-Installer Deluxe has a "Reset FTP" option on it's main menu - what does that do?
Sorry about the length of this post, but I wanted to give as much info as I could.
edit: I just tried FTP with the AID CD in and....IT WORKED!!!! HOORAY!!!!
edit: I just did some googling and it seems that I'm not the only one with this problem. there was a guy who couldn't FTP from his pc, but could from his wife's laptop and a few others....It might be an idea to sticky-ify this to show people how to "fix" it.

I was actually considering buying a new Xbox...I'm so happy....
heh heh heh, time to go to Xbins...
edit:ummm...does anyone know what the "Reset FTP" optin in the tools folder of AID does?
edit: sh*t, it'll take years for me to copy a game, but I just thought of a method that might work, I just need cofirmation.
I still have the stock hdd with lots of music on it, so ripping games will fill it up. but, what if i just put in a game, go into BoXplorer, copy 2-3 files of the disk, put in AID, FTP, get the files to my laptop, delete the files from the xbox HDD, put the game in, copy some more files in BoXplorer, etc, etc., make an ISO, burn? will that work? I don't plan on doing anything illegal, but I've already lost 1 game to scratches.

If I rip AID to my xbox and delete most of the Zips with the apps/emulators/dashboards, can I run that with a game in the DVD-ROM and rip through FTP?
edit: IT'S WORKING!! IIIT'SS WOOORKING!!!
