I completly new to modding but i used mechasult and actionreplay to mod.i made backups and it wont let me so if u no how i can get it to normal tht would be great but i herad i could fix it by getting a chip but i want one that can go on xbox live and is a good price so if u know any sugestion thanks my AIM is Lt Spears 84

most any chip available today is xbox live compatable and all mod chips do the same thing- load the bios. all you need is a mod chip that works with your particular xbox version and just load a compatable bio. evox's m8 bios works like a champ no matter what the chip.
chip wise, if your looking for something good, easy, and cheap, i would go with a duox2 or even a sunday chip (never used one of those but heard good things about them).
if your going for extra functionallity i would go with an X3 becuase of all the extra features/acessories it has out for it.
