Yes, but more than likely you wouldn't be able to do what you wanted to as with the OpenXDK you will not be able to sign games, also you mentioned playing copied games at a location where you don't have your original, you are allowed 1 backup, you are only allowed to use it instead of the original, not along side, so using the original at home and the backup at work is basically stealing a 2nd license for the game. We here at Xbox-HQ do not support piracy, and this falls into that category, also a full version of the XDK falls under piracy also which, as you now know is also not supported here, please do not discuss piracy related topics as they will be shut down just like the last one. We have to make a stand against piracy if we want to keep the site operational, if we aren't here, how can we help with other modding questions? We are all about homebrew, and a single personal backup of original software that you have a license to, otherwise it's considered piracy and we just cannot help you with that. _________________

I agree to all that has been said and must clear up one thing. I was not saying I was going to do what was said in the other post I was merely pointing out how close using a modded Xbox goes to breaking the law. Where I come from your not allowed to even have a back up copy of ANYTHING, in fact by law you’re not even allowed to tape a TV show to watch later. The point I was trying to make was the law sucks and needs to be looked at. Now before I get flamed about how software developers spend a lot of time and resources making a game for us to enjoy, I know they need to be rewarded for their efforts, but there has to be a more even playing field for people like MODDERS to explore to world of programming WITHOUT infringing on the law as it is. As I see it they are using some one else’s hard work and making us pay them for the privilege (IE every other game that has had any similarity to theirs, and every other program all the way back to DOS and beyond, that has HELPED them get to where they are now)
Above all if I were to do the things I theorized in the other post I would not be flashing it over the net. IT WAS A HYPOTHETICAL QUESTION

Everyone has different moral standards, is it breaking the law, technically yes, as with a hacked bios was changed copywritten code, therefore it would be illegal to run anything but linux on your xbox, (save the original bios and original games and such) but as I see it and most modders, it's my hardware I should be able to do with it basically what I want as long as I don't hurt anyone else, this is where piracy comes into play, it does hurt people as you mentioned developers, publishers, and it even goes back and hurts gamers with higher prices and such. I believe it is fine, but that's my moral viewpoint, I can't speak on how your morals will view these actions because everyone is different when it comes to morals and standards. _________________

ok now see here is where i get confused, most people are ok with taking a xbox console that took hundreds of thousands of dollars in reasearch and development to create and "reconfigure" it with "stolen" sofware (bios) and say its ok(and yes, i'm one of them). But when it comes to the games its wrong! its double standards.

Double standards is just how life works, most everyone thinks that way. It's just basically human nature to care about my stuff, but not care about you or your stuff. The difference with the bios and the games is that unlocking the modding potential of the xbox has a lot more good effects than pirating a game, this makes it seem more legit and worthwhile. The legal ramifications are normally also less for a simple modded xbox, but when you throw in piracy, that is a whole seperate level of legality (the ill part). _________________
