You probably have heard this a thousand times but im having some issues networking my xbox to my computer. I have a hub, connected the xbox to the hub, started xbox, typed on my computer ftp://xbox:xbox@192.168.0.3 and it doesnt connect. I have no idea what could be wrong. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

u have to have a ftp program like "CuteFTP" or "FlashFXP" u can't just type ftp://xbox:xbox@192.168.0.3 on your web browser it will not work...and also go to "system settings" on your modded xbox and make sure you are running the network under "Static IP" (Static IP = YES) then type this ip 192.168.1.115 on the "IP Address" line of your system settings....when thats done make sure u "SAVE AND EXIT" its at the very bottom....since u didn't specify wat dash u we're using i will not be able to tell u how to get to your xbox dash system settings. hope this helps
P.S. u can find the programs at http://www.download.com but they are only trials versions (but ofcourse everyone knows theres ways around)

im using evolution. Ill try that when i get home. I was under the impression tho that you could access it from the web browser.
I was kinda thinking I might have to forward a port or something since i believe im running a firewall, but I have no idea how to do that.

You can ftp from internet explorer.... Just make sure you have right IP address for xbox.

I can acces my xbox with the windows explorer.
Try just entering the ip address. Then in the "file" menu enter in the user and password.

Thats probably where i went wrong. So i change it to static and i can basically type any ip addy in there and then type that addy on my computer and i should be connected?

I can enter through IE as well I just have to have my firewall disabled. Make sure to double check and see what your xbox says your IP is and enter that in....good luck. _________________ Xbox V1.6

it says my ip addy is 192.168.1.200 i downloaded smartftp and typed that in but still not working. I disabled windows firewall too.
Question......if my xbox gives an ip addy that means its connected right? Because when i take the cord out, it doesnt give me the ip addy anymore so im doing something right lol. Just not sure why when i type in the ip addy into smartftp it dont connect

Its weird when i put on the windows firewall i get this

When i turn it off i get this

check your network settings again and make sure your xbox name is "xbox" (without the "") and make sure the password is xbox...then use your ftp program and setup a connection...
host adress = 192.168.1.200
login = xbox
password = xbox
the port should be default port 21
click "connect" it should work
i don't know much about FTPing through IE as i've failed to connect in the past...ftp programs are easier to use plus i believe u need a certian version of IE and\or update packs...etc...try diffrent ftp programs if that one fails...try WS_FTP that one works i know for a fact....same one i use...if i'm not mistaken it comes with windows XP Home editiion
oh and leave your Firewall on...
NOTE: your xbox should now generate a IP u are to Specify one. the ip that shows should be the one u typed in
