No, there's no need to moddify the files. The pen drive could be corrupting the files. Try burning the files to a cd-rw.

Burn the bios files to a cd-rw and put it in the drive. When you select d:, you should see the files.

Am I assuming properly that you are selecting FLASH in the Xenium OS?

I know it was an obvious question but you wouldn't believe some of the things folks try to do.
So, what I see happening is that the bios is on the CD and nothing else making it hard for the drive to initialize.
May I suggest a read of the following:
http://www.teamxodus.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=12562

Bet you'll have better luck now. Very Happy

For burning the files to disc?....any burning application.

Try what Shark2th suggests. I've heard of instances where the dvd drived will not recognize small bit of info.

If you know how to ftp to you box, you can try that. FTP the bios file(s) to the e: partition.

Just open your browser, type in the ip address for the xbox and ftp the bios in. Just make sure that it is a 256 bios.

Yes, network flashing by far is the easiest way to flash your chip. But if you want to try disk method again, then definitely add some dummy files to your bios disk.

The tutorial that shark gave ya is definitely the way to go, it's the same that I have always done.

I just use a bunch of MP3's though for my dummy files (around 100 to 200mb worth.

I still use my older version of Nero 6 ultra edition and choose Nero Burning Rom to create and burn my iso. I also always use a DVD-R disk as I have not had a lot of luck with CDRW's. I have had great success with several cheap brands of DVD-R disks, and bad luck with Memorex and Maxell.

Good luck making your disk.

Silly1

if you are not getting the D drive show its because the OS cannot read the disc and so ignores it. A couple of things over and above the tutorial pointed to earlier

use DVD-R disc they are more compatible

instead of using dummy files, i found creating a folder at the root of the image helps too. Nero is by far the best app to use

Important things are

8.3 file naming (same as for DOS and Windows 95,etc) ISO level 1
NO Joliet file support and ISO 9660 file system only
Burn that sucker real slow at 2x for a DVD-R

i personally have never had any success with CDRW Sad

post back if ur still stuck
