You may want to try swapping the DVD drive and the IDE cable as well.
It seems like there is a periferial causing the system to hang.
It could also be a component on the Mobo too. _________________ I think I like fixing Boxes more than using them!

i left it on for awhile and the ms dash did finally come up, but then it froze. now, the ms dash will come on but i only get seconds before it freezes again. this is with pirrup's ms-c files.

wait i got a little bit lost.. so you put unzip ur ms-c and put the contents of it on the xboxhdm/ c folder? and eeprom on xboxhdm/eeprom folder?
taht was 1st thing .... 2nd question... what u mean you unlocked a drive???? what were you doing?????
al u have to do is unzip ms-c and transfer it to C folder on xboxhdm put ur eeprom on E folder make iso win unplug pc hd plug upgrade hd run cd type in xboxhd then enter then press 1 buld new hd from scratch
let it make partitoins once its done reboot or power off... then re run the cd and this time type 3 boot to locking an unlocking utilitys and lockhd -a _________________ Xbox 360 Premium edition

thats what i did and at first i got bad freezing problems. but it seems to keep getting better. i can play games on it now without freezing. i think i'm going to cut a hole in the black plastic hdd holder to help keep the hdd cooler. going to try and use ndure and see what happens. thank guys so much for bringing some life back to my box. this is my first time here and it has been great.

umm if its due to heating issues... then have u try air conpresing the crap out of the xbox????? ( what i do once every 2 weeks.. i grab my 2 gallons of 3.5 hp air conpressor and clean out all the xbox ..... of course u unplug from power and clean everythin on the m/b ....

k, i modded the box using ndure 3.0 with xboxhdm. everything seems to work ok but i still got freezing probs. also, i used a 300gb hdd but in my f partition it says 123,480.50mb. and the hdd temp says not supported.

ok everything seems in order alyn ... on unleash x file manager or file explore and highlight G folder and click start and it should bring a list click formate and you should get the rest of the hd space there.Their is no hd temp for what i know.
it still seems werid that u get freezing problems, did you make sure u cleand the xbox motherboard? and increase your fan speed see if that helps . _________________ Xbox 360 Premium edition

must have got a corrupt write the first time. using hdm, i wiped out the hdd, made new one from scratch, installed ndure 3.0 and everything is working great now. thanks a million...
one more question, i installed ndure 3.0 and it uses unleash, but the apps folder is empty and i would like to beable to copy and play games from hdd. what would be the best way to set that up...

got everything set up but was still had the freezing prob. so i decide to try a friends dvd drive and guess what, that fixed it. my dvd drive was causing my freeze prob the whole time. i got the samsung drive, so i'm going to start checking on some replacements.
