I don't want to sound like a newb (even though I am technically one), but I was reading the tutorial on how to softmod your xbox and it said any version of Splintercell could be used. Does that include the Platinum Hits version because another tutorial said that that one doesn't work? I'm thinking about softmodding my xbox because I got a 360 and I don't want to mess it up.

no not any version will work, the platnium hits is a no no, and only caos theory will work

Not true although I dont want to argue with the pros because im a newb I used the Splinter Cell Classics, As I got it of ebay for a mega £4.99 lol and when it came it was classic I was a little worried but I tried it and it worked, I think it just depends what softmod you us
I used sid 4.5 and the sid 3.1 before that.
