What is the limit size for an xbox HDD right now? If I understand correctly, no partition can be larger than 250GB(I think I read somewhere that this can be doubled by using larger cluster sizes?). So if there is a 1GB c partition, 5GB e partition, 250GB f partition and 250GB g partition, and then the x, y, and z cache partitions, thats, what, about 510GB total? Just curious on what the maximum would be.

I'm not sure I've heard a maximum but some threads have suggested one. Last I read was in the 300 to 500 range but I've never heard a confirmation. The G drive takes the majority. Up to F, I think it's 137 gigs, everything else becomes available on G. _________________ http://twitter.com/HQ_Shark2th

Up to 137GB? So if I drop a 160GB drive in and the F drive ends up being 150, that can cause issues? Cause I do seem to be having wierd problems with a buddies xbox with a larger drive.
If this is the case, I assume I shouldn't use xboxhd to create the f partition, and I should use... what, AID? Is that a better method to create the f and G of proper sizes?

Now that you can read AID, I'd let it format a G for ya.
F will corrupt if past the 137 gigs. And the 137 gigs is in total between c,e and f, not for f alone. Anything beyond 137 needs to hit the G drive. It also needs to be enabled in your dashboard. _________________ http://twitter.com/HQ_Shark2th

I have been running my 250gig WD and a 250gig Maxtor in mine and have never had a problem with corruption. The F: is the only drive enabled and has all of the space (240g or something) Just use XBPartitioner found on AID.
Here is a small tutorial that I wrote a while back.
You have to use a little tool called Xbpartitioner, It sets the size of your hdd partitions. I use it all the time when I softmod and works great, download it from the usual places, or get it off of the AID disk. When you have it on your box run the program and at the screen press start, then you will see 2 windows ( one on top of the other ) the top window shows your C: E: X: Y: Z:, the bottom window shows your F:/G: drive. Move the highlighted portion to the bottom screen and press the "A" button untill it shows the top partition in the bottom window at about 240Gigs, then press start to write table and format partition. A screen will pop up asking if you are sure you want to continue, just press the "Y" button to continue and it will Write and Format the partition. Make sure if you have anything loaded on the F: partition that you back it up to your pc first because it will wipe the entire F: clean. Now you will experience the hdd's full capacity.
Thats what I use on all of my modz... never had a problem.

300 gigers will work, 400-500 should work, but some ppl claim that you can't use the last 100 gigs on the 400 gig, I don't know, i still use a 120 gig _________________ Xbox v1.1
