I have SID 2.0 installed on one of my Xboxes, I dont use it much and i never unplug it. I mainly just did it to learn how to do it and just never bothered to upgrade to SID 4.0. A friend of mine wants me to softmod his Xbox and i will use SID 4.0 but i have been reading around other forums of a clock loop that you can get by unplugging the Xbox for a while. Is this even an issue with SID or is it just other less developed softmods ? My friend lives a ways away from me so his Xbox will be unplugged for a while so i dont want to screw it up for him.

It doesn't suffer from clock loop, not since SID 2.

Clock loop was fixed by using the update.xbe instead of the original xboxdash.xbe, some fonts gave the option to set the time, but they could be wrong most of the time.

SID 4 works like this.

First time you boot after installing SID 4, you might have to set your clock, after you save it, power off and power back on and it should be fine.

If you leave your xbox unplugged for more than 4 hours, then your clock is lost, power on xbox, and SID 4 will notify that the clock is not there, then the fonts will take action setting time, but since fonts can't set right time all the time, nkpatcher will call MS Dashboard to the clock screen for you to set your time to the correct one, this way you don't get any errors at all.

SID 4 doesn't suffer from clock loop, instead it adds a new feature where you set your clock if you leave it unplugged for a while, since most new games can't be played if your xbox is set to years ago or something, they will not work.

I think you get the Idea, and yes SID 4 is safe Very Happy
