What I don't understand is:
1. Why the requirements section of SIDv2 requires dash 5960? I thought the bert ernie/font exploit worked on all dashes? The two boxes I've done so far already had 5960 on them - what would happen if I tried this on an older xbox that had never been on live (ie had a much older dash?)
It does, but the way I've made SID 2 it works with 5960. You basically have to select wish dashboard version before you compile the fonts etc.

2. How when the softmod installer then deletes the ms dash - I didn't reinstall it, yet any time I start the xbox it boots up to evo-x. If the ms dash has been removed, what are the fonts exploiting to allow the running of the biosloader??
The softmod uses it's own fonts etc, which is loaded onto the xbox after the softmod installer formats c to install the softmod.
Hope that helps...

DJB, Thanks for the reply.
I'm now crystal clear on point 1.
However point 2 still has me confused.
Are you saying that you only need the fonts exploit once - to install the softmod? Then once C: is wiped it will run the biosloader without any 'persuasion' each time?

Basically there is a modified xboxdash.xbe and the hacked fonts that sit on the C drive along with the softmod, that's all that is needed to boot evox or another dash. If you want the MS dashboard to be still available there's a few more options you have to go through.
