hi everyone
I have sucessfully softmodded my xbox using the splinter cell exploit and now im in the process of putting in a new harddrive. I followed the tutorial on techfreaks exactly but i'm having trouble with the last step.
My problem is that i can't lock the hd because for some reason my keyboard dies when i get to that menu. I can't type the "lockhd -a" command. the keyboard worked fine up until that point and it worked fine all through the formatting the new hd part.
i've unplugged it, rebooted but to no avail. Can someone tell me whats going on and how can i lock the hd?
thanks

Hi ucdesi,
You may have better luck following one of our members tutorials..
Heres a tutorial from our softmod admin named pirrup.. This is what i would suggest following as 100's of members here havce already got it working just fine..
thanks for the replies...
im a little confused about the tutorial that you suggested. I've done all the formatting and stuff on the new hd, all i need to do now is to lock it.
is there an easy way to lock the hd using a pc.

11. Now for locking the hard drive. This time type ‘3’ and hit enter to boot linux with locking/unlocking utilities. Next, type in ‘lockhd -a’. It will now search for the eeprom on the CD and will automatically lock the hard drive.
this is where im stuck. I cant type in lockhd -a because my keyboard dies. Im able to press '3' and the sequence starts up but when i get to the screen that says type "lockhd to lock" my keyboard like shuts off?!
I can see the numlock key light on but when i reach the above mentioned screen the numlock key light goes off, so somehow the keyboard loses power!
i dunno im totally confused at this point. Has anyone else had this problem?
