Although nothing has changed on my computer (to the best of my knowledge), I am suddenly getting an error saying "Unspecified target error" when burning backups using Nero 6.6.?.
I've tried burning with Alcohol 120 and get the same thing.
The drive has the latest firmware and has worked very well backing up games like NHL 06 & NHL2k6. This just started to happen. I've checked for spyware/malware and didn't find anything that might interfere with the burn. I am clueless. I've tried to back up Delta Force Blackhawk Down and the recent Nascar 06 and gotten this failure on both.
Anyone have any ideas? I've googled the hell out of myself trying to resolve this.
"Defective recorders are known to cause this. Test with another demo software to rule out software as the cause. If two software programs have the same symptom, your recorder may need service.
If the drive is being polled by another software's driver, it could hang the bus. Uninstall any other CD recording software you may have had on your system, as well as Nero. Then use Registry cleaner software to clean you registry. At last try a fresh install of our latest Nero release."
I take it this is the bit you found intresting. How old is your burner? if it has a little raleigh logo on the front then it needs changing
I`ve heard of burners failing pretty quickly when used alot.

Thanks for the info blighty!
I've had no internet at work and lost it at home too just before the weekend. WTF! Anyway, it's only around 3 years old and I did try other software with the same result. Tried reinstalling Nero with same results.
Looks like I might have to go find a new DVD recorder.
Suggestions on best model out there? _________________ http://twitter.com/HQ_Shark2th

Crap I feel like such a noob. I went to the site for the dvd burner and they had a firmware update. Sent that sucker in and burnt all the backups that were freezing during the burn..... stupid me.
And here I thought I had the latest firmware.... WRONG! _________________ http://twitter.com/HQ_Shark2th
