Got a 1.6B box with Executer 3 fitted. If i have the chip enabled or disabled after a while the system decides to shut off without warning. It happened 3 times yesterday, once while uploading to it and twice playing an official game on the system. Any ideas ?

Standby resistor starting to fail?? Hard to say..
There are a few capacitors, resistors, and I think it's called an SMI chip I'll have to look it up again, that control your machine turning on and off.
In your case, I would lean toward the chip. This particular chip regulates the machine turning on and off.
The standby resistor is what just allows your machine to go into and out of standby mode. So, I would think if it was failing your machine would either not go into standby, or not come out of standby.
A long shot could be that the chips OS (if it has the capacity to shut down your machine) is failing. I know with the SmartXX and Xenium Ice chips you can shut your machine down. So, the chip has the capability to do so. What happens if you remove the chip and run your machine as normal?

Thanks, i would be pissed if it were the box that was giving the grief. I bought it brand new and chipped it before even turning it on as a standard. I doubt there is any point in regestering it !
HAd some advice from someone in a UK forum that said it may be shorting or my soldering is slightly arching on another point.
Going to use an LPC rebuild and re-solder it, hopefully that should resolve the issue. If not i'll take the chip out and try it as a standard box to see if it is *uc*ed.
Cheers

I would try it as a standard box prior to doing anything else to it. That way you can maybe eliminate a few things. _________________ Good Deals: Death@Hand, funkydopenloven, StaticMind, Slamscaper, PorscheXboxter
