Hey guy's been forever since I messed with this I'm having a time upgrading this HDD, I just installed Rocky5s updated dash on my Xbox hoping that would fix it. I've tried many of times with Chimp and each time I go to hotswap it just lags at the main screen. My plugs are correct on the HDDs. If I go to unplug the DVD drive before launching chimp the console freezes, if I attempt to go to DVD drive to HDD during chimp boot up the light just flashes orange and it blinks at the main screen.
Chimp is installed at
E:/apps/Chimp
Hoping someone has tips really don't want to sink anymore money into this then I have to. I'm also using a Y splitter adapter cable along with a data adapter.
Can't get xboxhdm to usb to load either as much as I tried. _________________ The internet, a place where people expect you to know what they know.

Which version of Chimp are you using?
If not Chimp 261812, get it and try using it. You start it then when prompted swap the DVD drive's IDE connector to the new HDD/adapter combo if SATA or IDE drive.
Which adapter and new hard drive are you working with?

It's a wd blue 500gb I installed chimp using the auto installer disc. I know the adapter works because it's the same one in the old Xbox I used that died. _________________ The internet, a place where people expect you to know what they know.

If you mean AID (Auto-Installer Deluxe) then that is likely your problem.
That only has Chimp v2.6 and if it is an earlier AID version it could even be Chimp v2.4. If you were using either of those or earlier with a v1.6 Xbox then that's 99% certainly the problem.
1). Do the DVD > HDD swap after launching Chimp when prompted.
2). If using a SATA HDD it is recommended you swap the 40 wire IDE cable for an 80 wire one.
3). Any SATA > IDE adapter must have at least Master and Slave jumper options. Remember to set that to Slave before the swap.
4). Try to use an AV Composite cable.
5). You must use an official MS Xbox controller (Duke or Controller S).
6). Remove any USB devices attached to the Xbox and that includes official MS or third party memory cards too.

Version 1.01 is what's displayed, sometimes if I leave it alone for 5 minutes or so it will load other times it says booting chimp and just lags could be a short someplace or the Y splitter I have is defective. _________________ The internet, a place where people expect you to know what they know.

Are you using the stock IDE cable or a high-speed 80-wire 40-pin one?

Download Chimp 261812 from Rocky5's github.com repository
If the current source hard drive you are cloning to the new larger destination hard drive is not the stock 8 or 10GB Xbox hard drive, upload the E Partition/XBP Table Writer subfolder's content to your Xbox's Applications subfolder. Reboot the console then run it before using Chimp to clone the current hard drive.
