Bought a soft modded Xbox for $10 that the guy said had an error 16. It has a 40GB HDD. Plugged it in and it took me to the main Xbox menu on first boot. Saw he left a game inside it, so I removed the game then got error 12. Wanted to see if it would boot AID disc and once I tried that, it will no longer get past error 09 upon boot. From everything I can find on the net and YouTube, it appears the HDD has gone bad. I’ve tried new IDE and making sure cables are plugged in correctly as well as making sure the HDD is in cable select. Apparently this is not a common error as nothing much can be found aside from a few others having the same problem. Can’t find any fix suggestions other than the aforementioned. It’s a v1.6 board also so I’m not sure what can be done. Is there any hope? _________________

cheap aladdin or open xenium chip will fix this thats about it really if you dont have the backup EEPROM. Most people just use the parts off a 1.6 like ram if its samsung for ram upgrades the dvd drive and all that good stuff but i mean i still fix them with a 10-20$ chip _________________ The one the only Scarface!!
