I'm currently uploading lots of games and media to my XBOX with a TSOP flashed BIOS and a 2TB hard drive. There is more than 1.5TB of data I'm copying to it and it has taken days to get to where I'm at. I had a few hiccups but even after straightening them out and spending over a day transferring files, I probably have another day to 1.5 days to go. I have to stick with a max of two files at a time. Anymore and files seem to get corrupted, undetectable and I'm forced to format and start again.

I have another XBOX, my original back from 2001-2002 with an X3 chip and a 2TB drive that I want to copy the data to but I don't want to use FTP. My plan is to use the X3 chip to setup the drive partitions of the destination drive and use Chimp to copy/clone either just the F and G drives (~927GB each) or the whole drive if I have to. The drives are not identical models so there would be some slight difference in space, only by a few MB. The drives will be in the same xbox for the copy/clone.

Is this a good plan or is there a better way not via FTP

I would buy a cloner $15-20 as long as the drive is the same size or bigger it will clone it and since both are tsop and chipped all you have to do is setup one how you want it make sure everything is the way you want then unlock the hard drive slap it in the cloner wait 3-4hrs slap it in and if its the x3 you might have to enable the one partition in the x3 menu and all is golden. chimp will take forever

The easiest way of copying between Xboxes is a direct connection using a crossover cable.

Then, using the UnleashX dash's File Explorer (white button context menu) you'll find a previously greyed out FTP Browser option is active.

I know you say you don't want to use FTP but between Xboxes there are, usually, far fewer disconnection and other problems.

It is not as fast as FTPing from a PC but I'd say it is faster and less hassle than Chimp cloning. It is still going to take a long time.

Only problem with UnleashX in this respect is that funny about text files with no recognised extension and refuse to copy them.

Unfortunately XBMC and a lot of emulators and other things have ReadMe, Makefile, Licence documents with this issue. Even when referring to the log after such cases it can be an utter pain finding the culprit and adding an extension like .txt or .nfo to those files to make them UnleashX friendly.

I changed the transfer mode from AUTO to BINARY as per one guide which makes sense and I haven't had any issues. Setting simultaneous transfers to 9 flooded caused issues with VPN and zoom meetings out family uses until I realized those transfers were crossing through my router, not my switch. Some rewiring fixed that but I set the max transfers to two and everything has been stable. In fact since the night before yesterday, 1,400 GB have transferred over with less than 100 GB to go.

I think I'll go with FTP. Slow and steady seems to be working for me. And as long as both XBOXes transfer and receive at 10Mbs, it should be either as fast or close to PC to XBOX speeds. Is XBOX to XBOX restricted in the number of connections?

I do have a crossover cable but would there be any benefit vs. going through a switch?
