This post will be a copy of 3 posts I have made on another site to no avail. I'm simply going to copy/paste those posts in order.

Decided to finally try softmodding my Xbox. Hot swap successful, backed up c and e with x360,ndure injection of files, plugged had back in, black screen. Hotswap again, load x360, no partition 4. Hd still boots to dash, no memory blocks, can't play games. Xhdm finds drive, refuses to rebuild partition saying partition tables can't be found and I can't get x360 to find the drive again. Nothing has changed with the PC I'm using, and the hd still boots on console, so I don't think I've completely buggered up anything. I'm just looking for my next step to try and salvage things.
Also, I do have another original untouched Xbox if I can use that hd for cloning or file copying if need be.

Update: I can get xboxhdm to find my drive, it reported with the correct model number, but when I try to "build from scratch" it tells me there are no partition tables in /Dev/hda then says press any key to reboot. Option 2 states "Are you sure this device is partitioned for Xbox?". I downloaded the ms rar like every other tut suggests, put it in the "C" folder on the disc, re-burned about ten times after triple checking the files are correct and in the right spot, tried different ide configs,slave/master on my disc drive, different hdd unlock methods, different download locations for xboxhdm and the ms folder for my dash version, unlocking with the DVD power/ide/both, adding unlocked hdd before/after bios with and without using pause/break,trying the text vs the Linux options in xboxhdm... I can't seem to find what I'm doing wrong.
Could I just clone the other stock hdd to this one and pop it in and be good? At this point I just want this thing back to stock so I can play Morrowind and have lan parties with Halo...

UPDATE: I have now tried another computer with ide drives,on a different operating systems(windows 7/xp),tried different ram amounts (1/2/4 gb), tried hdm 1.9/2.2/2.3 beta, contacted Microsoft to try and get a factory reset code (no luck),tried uninstalling/reinstalling x360 AND windows all together. Tried different cables, different ports, even tried different mouse and keyboard.
What else is there to try? The drive will unlock, hdm all versions will detect, but none will acknowledge that I have any files in the C/E folders within the program so I can't build from scratch. Can't rebuild C drive because xhdm says it's not a partitioned Xbox hd, yet it boots on the console no problem other than showing no memory but will play an audio cd...
I'm at my wit's end here. I have not touched the other console because of waiting for replies on here. Don't want to mess it up and have 2 bad drives. Help?
That's where I'm at currently. If I can give any more info or details to help, I'm more than willing to tell you anything that will help.

Since HDM refuses to cooperate Id load the C folder with mod files and use Xbrowser to copy them to C then coldboot a disc with XBPartitioner on it and use that to recreate partition 4. If you use Babylon it will also attempt to format the E for you and install a dash at first boot and may not need to use XBpartitiner

yea if you can get the dirve unlocked you could load the dirve through xplorer 360
Can't seem to get xplorer360 to find the drive anymore.

Thats OK cause Xbroswer isnt in Xplorer360 lol. When you boot XBOXHDM type xbrowser instead of xboxhd and that will load a filemanager and allow you to view and manipulate the contents of the HDD.
It lists commands by number like 1=copy 2=2 delete etc but you use the F keys so F1, F2 etc and everything is in a tree format similar to FTP programs. But even if we cant get access to the E drive (P4) as long as we can get access to the C you can save that XBOX by installing Babylon on C and dumping the eeprom/HDD key which will allow you to simply build a new HDD or wipe the old one using Windows then rebuild it.

if you happen to not get the xbox to work i would sell u just a motherboard and a hard drive that is already softmodded then you would just have to swap out your dvd drive and the case with this one then you will have a working xbox again i would sell it very cheap since its just the board and a drive _________________ https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCPkPFFEMgoun_8mk_K0NNIA https://arcade1up-hq.com/ https://start-hq.com/
