I couldnt figure out how to delete my last post so I have edited it, I have reflashed my bios using an AMD DUO X2 512K chip and all is good but when I go to clean C drive I get a passcode with A,B,X,Y,White,Left,Down,Right and Up but it says incorrect passcode when I put them in using Heimdalls Hexen boot CD. Is the 5th button the white button next to the black button and the arrows for the d-pad? I have tried a heap of different ways but it has me stumped!

I need some help to upgrade the HDD, can I just use the chimp method like you can with a soft mod or is there a better way?

I just read about an option to use a Hexen boot CD to install UnleashX dash as I would prefer UnleashX than EvolutionX can someone point me to a good version of Hexen with the latest UnleashX on it? I see there is a Hexen Shambles edition but its 1gig I would use this but is the xbox ok with DVD's for boot installs of Hexen?

The Shambles edit of HeXEn is effectively HeXEn Final and as good as there is. Shambles also put together an install version of HeXEn and both those are available at the same place(s) if you search online.

HeXEn was orginally intended to work from disc so yes using a DVD will be fine but like any other ISO burned for the Xbox the universal rule is always to use DVD-R and the standard recommendation is also to use ImgBurn (default "Write image file to disc" settings).

A lot of other media types are compatible with the various, often picky, Xbox disc drives but DVD-R will work in all of them. If it doesn't then either the media is faulty or the disc drive laser is on the way out.

I'm not sure what UnleashX version any HeXEn uses but I suspect it is the final version. That is 0.39 v584 but in my opinion you should consider looking for 0.39 v.572 to replace once it is in situ.

The v.584 one has a problem with the Game Save Manger: it won't display individual game saves on any attached memory device, just the parent folder. This compromises its key purpose and so, depending on whether this is important to you, you're better off with v.572.

Both are still fairly easily found separately but a good source for v.572 is the AID installer menu.xbe. AID uses what is basically a modified UneashX dash for its GUI and, for whatever reason, the menu.xbe (just that, nothing else) if extracted is, in all the three versions of AID I've used, a v.572 "UnleashX Dashboard Launcher". If you want to replace your newly installed UnleashX main dash version all you have to do is rename it to replace that.

BUT BEFORE DOING THIS TEST IT DOES WORK FIRST.

Bung it in a temporary folder on the Xbox and launch it from there. It will generate its own default Config and Items XMLS and if you go to the System > Settings you will see if it is v572 or not. If it is then go ahead with the replacement renaming it to whatever your existing dash XBE is called. Rather than delete the existing dash XBE a safety net is to rename it to something bootable like: default.xbe or avalaunch.xbe.

Up to you whether you leave it there forever or deleted it once you've rebooted the Xbox and proved your new dash version is working. It won't do any harm leaving it there.
