Ok guy heres a nice tidbit for ya, teres a bug in Seagates HDD locking technology, allowing you to unlock without the EEPROM!!!!!!
Theres 2 programs currently available that allow you to do this- MHDD and Dos Locking Tools. So in a nutshell heres how to do it.
Hook your XBOX HDD to PC same s a hotswap (only you dont actualy have to hotswap just hook it up the same way to facilitate locking when done) ie unplug DVD drive power the HDD off the XBOX and hook it to the PC.
Now put in XBOXHDM with your fles on it, I reccomend using SID5 Pimped Final, and boot and choose dos locking tools.
For the password type seagate followed by 25 spaces and hit enter, this puts the drive in FW flash mode. Reboot and drive is now unlocked. Build the drive according to the SID5 Pimped tut and when done turn off the PC hook the HDD back up to the XBOX IDE and power off the XBOX. You just succesfuly modded your XBOX via XBOXHDM with no EEPROM.
This method of unlocking a locked drive without password came straight from an old Seagate Support doc on how to unlock a Seagate drive if you lost the password
Im looking into holes in WD but so far the only one is to flash the firmwre totaly wiping any eeprom or data from the drive and runs the risk of bricking the drive.
Heres the master pass for Western Digital Drives (I dont have a WD with me so I couldnt run the # to make sure the retail model is covered) worst that can happen though is it will just refuse the pass and not unlock. This just like the seagate pass puts the drive in service/FW flash/ Kernel mode
WD Master Pass for Dos Locking or MHDD
WDCWDCWDCWDCWDCWDCWDCWDCWDCWDCWD
Must be all capitals.
And heres the firmware for seagate drive for unlocking purposes, simply put on a floppy and run with the drive connected, be sure to have a Pimped disc handy as this will wipe the drive and you will need to rebuild. Be sure to check this ist and use the proper FW if you are going to use this method of unock. Using the wrong FW will turn your drive into a paperweight

There are a few other old seagates that had this hole as well but they were all 20 and 30gb hdd so I doubt theyd be common among modders, but the model # of retail seagate drive for xbox was listed in the doc. After a succesful softmod with XBOXHDM it is a possibility to use the master password to relock it, thats just a theory though I havent tested using the master pass (xboxscene) for locking
Heres a list of drives that have the hole in the locking tech
Also this can be done by visiting the seagate site and downloading the firmwre tools for your specific drive, put it on a floppy hook your HDD up and run it, this will flash the drive with the exct same firmware with the side bonus of unlocking it. But as I said only the drives listed are confirmed by seagate as working for either method of unlocking.
