Installed xbox softmod splinter cell hack
backed up c,e, and eeprom
made installer linux disc
made new harddrive, but won't lock correctly
used linux and dos tools
even when I manually lock with correct eeprom I get error code 6 on XBOX

Please Help!

Error 6 means it cant unlock the harddrive, are you sure the eeprom is the correct one.

Are you trying to upgrade to a larger hard drive ?
you could try `Chimp` rather than xbhdm :
