So I have a matrix mod chip... I have been reading up on how to get on Xbox live while using backup games (which i am assuming are ones stored on hdd unless it means a burnt DVD). I had a decent bios but decided to update it to EvoX M8+ which worked fine.. Anyways, in the literature I have read I set my matrix to mode 3 load a game and press the eject button and it reboots but turns the mod chip off.
Now let me first mention that on my EvolutionX 3935 dashboard I try to get to the MS Dash and it makes an attempt then just goes back to the EvolutionX Dashbaord. This leads me to believe that I dont have an MS Dash. I set my matrix to mode 3 started up halo 2 then pressed the eject and it restarted.. mod chip turned red (indicating it was off) but then it brought me to the error screen i think it was error code 13.
I ftp to my xbox's C: drive and here are the contents:
/backup
/bios
/skin
/trainers
evox.ini
evox.ini.bkp
evoxdash.xbe
readme.txt
from what i have read i should have like an xboxdash.xbe or some other file. Lets say i deleted it sometime way back cause I modded this back in late 02' how would i go about getting the MS Dash??

First I believe they are talking about burnt backup disks. About the whole dash thing I believe it prolly replaced the M$ dash with EvoX I've seen some mods that do that. I'd defenitly wouldn't try to stick anything in the C: drive as you can seriously f**k something up. I'd look around more or wait for someone who knows more about this subject posts. BTW Error 13 means it was a dashboard issue that the Xbox couldn't specify anymore what caused it. You defenitly have a M$ dash since its giving you that error when its rebooting from a game and its nowhere to be found in C. _________________

It sounds like the ms dash was removed for some reason i dont know why but youll need to get a working ms dash.
You can get this from the aid disc and install it to your c drive.
Since you chip bios looks for .XBEs in a serten order (i think evox xbe first ) the ms dash wont muck anything up.
With the ms dash on your c drive it will boot to it when the xbox cant find your chip.
You can not play from the hdd or a backup disc on xbox live.
When you use a modded xbox on live you do it at your own risk, i do not advise it.
Hope this helps.

Much appreciated! So what I need to do is snag the MS dash off the AID then if I want to play a game I need to set my matrix to mode 3 and insert a PURCHASED game into the drive?

pretty much.... One thing you should know though, If your xbox has ever been on live before, You're gonna want to use the same hdd that was in it when it was connected. Otherwise you'll get banned. _________________
