As far as I've seen slim boxes are just xbox's minus the dvd drive. No big deal if you got a big HDD. But say you were to get a new game how do you get it onto your drive. I know you can FTP it from your pc. But dont you need an xbox to get it onto your pc?

Yes but most people that have slim boxes have more then 1 Xbox. I have a slim and I also have 6 other Xbox's. You could set it up with a plug for an external Dvd drive plug or you could take the top off and hook one up when you need to put a new game on the hdd.

Slim rule i have 1 and one slim case im working on i just use my clear xbox with drive in it to copy game on to hdd and ftp it to slim. not that i play alot of games lol mostly media and audio.
i use a Samsung SH - D162C in my pc, flashed with Kreon Firmware.
it allows me to rip games to my pc HDD using only DVD Decrypter - then FTP them to my Xbox .......... This is a great drive considering it cost half of what a replacement for my Xbox would of set me back.
