Hi.i only want to know wath exacly is the difference of a hdd locked and one unlocked.

Best practice is to always lock the HDD. It only really matters if you go online using XboxLive! XLINK etc.

To be safe rather than sorry, lock the drive anyway, even if you have no plans at this stage to go online to play.

well on mine, i keep mine unlocked. that is incase the motherboard goes out, makes it easy to switch everything over, but dont unlock it if your softmodded

I run mine unlocked as if motherboard goes or sumthing its easy to reuse the hdd and not have problem unlocking as i have a laptop.

If you have a softmod then it has to stay locked but like us we have hardmods so we run ours unlocked in case the mobo goes bad. So if you have a chip then I recommend that you leave it unlocked.
