I had xbx live on my original xbox but now that i have a new and improved box how do i get my user name into it so that i can play?
i was told by a friend that i have to ftp the info in but i cant find anything written on this. does anyone know?

First of all make sure your modchip is OFF. If you sign in with it on your xbox serial will be banned and you can not use it until you update your EEPROM. You don't need to FTP anything accross though, you just go to the xbox live tab on the xbox menu and select account recovery. From there you enter in all your details that you used to get on live in the first place and your account will then be registered to that xbox. also if you still have your old xbox and a memory unit you can copy your account from one to the other from the hard drive menu. There is no need to do it by FTP as microsoft have made it perfectly easy. Hope that helps ya. _________________ V1.4 Xbox

If you do the account recovery won't you render your previous Xbox useless for the account recovered??
I would use the memory card method. Last time I did an account recovery I got a MS warning telling me that if I used this method the previous machine would not be able to connect to that account.
Let me know if that has changed..

I tried to connect to live last night and this morn. my chip is off and this is the warning i get:
Unable to continue due to technical difficulties. Please try again later.
should i give them a call so they can help me or does somebody have an idea?

Ok useing account recovery for your xbl account...what happens is if you use account recovery it renders your previous account save file useless,that should not matter because if your useing the account recovery than you dont have the original xbl account file.. or your at your friends house and forgot you xbox memory card with your account saved on it...well just use account recovery on your friends xbox and your redy to go...now when you get back to your house delete your xbl account file and use account recovery againit will make the account info useless on your friends xbox so he can use your account,, now just save your new recoved account to your xbox memory card.. you can use account recovery unlimited times its cool that it makes all other xbl account files useless so you dont have all these copys of your account everywhere .. _________________ [img] http://www.iPhotoshop.org/upload/images/logo4lp6.jpg[/img]
