Haveing an interest in what my friends were doing to their xbox's I thought, what the hell I'll give it a try. Now it's not very fancy and it served more as a learning experience then any other I'm still very pleased with it.
Theme of the Mod: To create a retro Sci-Fi 1950's era machine. (Lots of usless nobs and switches.) Sadly there's only one switch for now and that turns the light on and off.
The current mod contains:
Upgraded HDD
SoftMod
Cathode Light
80mm fan (Fried the stock Xbox one)
Please leave all comment and suggestions. My next box is going to be... evil!

Good idea on a retro look for an xbox, I dont think that has been done yet. If you looking for old style knobs and switches, I think you can find that kind of stuff at garage sales, just buy up all the old electronics junk and slavage the switches and knobs. _________________

What would be tight would be getting an old console TV and converting it into an XBOX gaming system with a built in screen. Not sure how big some of the older sets in the late 50s were, but if you can find a console big enough to fit a 20" to 27" set in, it may be worth the while.
It would have a natural early sci-fi look to it already just because of the console you are using. _________________ Xbox 1.4

the thing about that is you would have to gut the old tv and put a new tv's guts in the old shell lol, then it would look retro but you would be able to see what your playing lol. _________________

Yeah, that was the basic idea. Finding an old looking console that you could just put the newer tv guts in. You could even add some superfluous gizmos and doodads to make it look way out there like some of those computer/control systems you would see in old 50's sci-fi movies.
And, 42" is too small.... 52" is much nicer _________________ Xbox 1.4

Its gonna be hard to find tv's from the 50's that big for one, you may have to build one, like the old floor models almost. Add some wheels to it and its mobile lol. _________________

The TV idea is cool, but thats not quite what I was looking at createing.
Think more of a command console in the first startrek. Millions of useless switches and buttons, gizmos and turny things. Thats what I ment by sci-fi 50's style. Like their vision of the future back then... flying cars and such.
Or my brother just gave me an idea. Paint it up military and slap on a "warning: Radiation" sticker on it, and I could call it a moblie nuclear reactor. It glows damn well bright enough in the dark. (It lights up an enitre side of the room... you actually have to turn off the light since it distraces some people while playing. Haha)
Thanks for all the comments, keep em comeing. And I'll keep you updated with this project and my "seceret" new one.

Yeah, that's why I said I wasn't sure how large the console TV screens were back then. And, a console TV is the floor models...not sure about the wheels though..but for sure they could be added...lol _________________ Xbox 1.4
