COMBAT TACTICS
In this section of the tips section, I will tell you about the different stuff you can do in combat. Some are a little hard, so only use them if absolutely needed.
Attack: As mention before, the X button allows you to attack an enemy, and this is the most basic thing you'll use in combat. Keep on pressing X to do some combos and strings.
Dagger: Use it to freeze time and enemies (you must collect an amount of sand for all dagger abilities). When enemies are on the ground, use the dagger of time to finish them off, or else they will never stop coming back at 'ya.
Surprise Kick: Not useful all the time, but it can help if surrounded. If you're slicing and dicing an opponent, and another creature will attack you from behind, move the moving cursor in the opposite direction and press X. Note that you have to do it quickly, so the timing can be an issue here.
Sands Of Time: Pressing the left trigger lets you reverse time. Use it if you die in combat, or in any other situation. Tap the trigger to go slo-mo. Everything will go much slower, but it will give you an extra second before knowing what to do. It really gives the Prince an advantage.
Block: In much crowded areas, attacking all the time will lead you to certain death. That's why blocking is useful! Press and hold the right trigger to block in combat, hcih can lead also to some counters...
Counter Attack: When an enemy is about to attack you, hold the right trigger. When he's about to hit your blade, tap the X button. The prince will knock the enemy's weapon, and follow it by a surprise kick and a spin slash. This will knock the enemy to the ground instantly, but beware of which enemy you do it on. In the enemies section, I'll tell you what is good to use against the enemies, and what is not.
Counter-Retrieve: A little like the counter-attack (only a bit more difficult to pull off), start by raising your block. When an enemy is just about to hit you, press the Y button instead of the X button. The Prince will block the attack, and he will also stab the enemy with the damn dagger, finishing him off. The timing must be perfect, so don't use this on a regular basis.
Vault Attack: Probably my favorite of all tactics, a vault attrack is really useful during the game becuase it doesn't take as great a timing to pull off, unlike other ones. To do it, run towards your enemy and press the A button. The Prince will jump over the enemy, and you have multiple options (3) while your in the air:
1. Stab him with the dagger to only damage him, and follow it up with a slash. Once on the ground, continue like you want.
2. In mid-air, slash the opponent once, then slash him again to knock him on the ground. The easiest option in the book.
3. Start with a slash in mid-air, which will make the opponent bend. Then, on your second chance, use the dagger to finish it off.
Wall-Rebound: Although a little harder to perform then the vault attack, it can be done with ease. Go to a wall nearby, press both the X button and A button, and the Prince will attack with a leap from the wall. Extremely useful, as it is effective against all enemies.
Evade: If you want to get a little bit of fresh air in battle, you can move backwards and press the A button at the same time. The is will lead to a somersault, but it you have to be fast to pull it off.
Oh, and I almost forgot to tell you about the dagger process. If you're going to stab a creature with the dagger while other enemies are around, do not worry! When you stab an enemy with the dagger, the others won't attack during the process, so there's nothing to worry about when stabing.
ENEMIES
In this section, I will tell you everything there is to know about the different enemies you'll be facing, including what special attacks you should and shouldn't use.
Sand Creature w/Axe: An enemy with an axe is the lowest ranking memeber on the team. Any tactic will work against these weak idiots.
Sand Creature w/Halberd: These enemies are the most common breed in the castle. Although more powerful than an axe carrier, they have much more powerful cousins, making this breed a little weak. Any tactic should do okay against them.
Sand Creature w/Twin Daggers: This breed is made of women instead of men. They possess a dagger in each hand, so they are the weakest breed capable of multiple attacks. If they hit you the first time, they will hit you the second time. This sounds bad, but their weapons are quite weak, and they are as easy to defeat, maybe easier, than the ones with the halberds. They are extremely weak against vualt attacks, mind you.
Sand Creature w/Club: These guys are fat, slow, and weak. However, their clubs are quite deadly if they hit you. Then again, wall-rebound attacks are greatly effective against this breed.
Sand Creature w/Double Halberd: The stronger and deadlier cousin of the halberd holding breed, these guys have a second blade on the end of their stick, meaning that vault attacks are absolutely ineffective against them. I've faced these guys, like, two hundred times, yet I still never managed to get a successful vault. On the other hand, they are extremely vulnerable against wall-rebounds.
Sand Creature w/Sledgehammer: Surely enough, you'll face gigantic enemies, and this will be the first type. They are mighty, and can sometimes smash through your defenses, so stay on the offensive against these guys. Luckily enough, they aren't fast, so you can use any special attack you desire.
Sand Creature w/Chain: Although quite rare, these guys are not to be underestimated. Sure, you can block all of their attacks, but since they are quite quick, you must attack with precaution. This also means that counter-attacking them is the wrong thing to do, since even if you can pull it off, they can still re-counter you. Wall-Rebounds are effective, and so are vaulting attacks, so stick with those tactics.
Sand Creature w/Meat Hook: These guys are similar to the ones with chains becuase od their speed. However, doing a counter-attack against them is far worse. They can knock you to the the ground this way, giving other enemies the opening to attack you, too. Instead, stick with vaults and wall-rebounds.
Sand Creature w/Armor & Large Sword: These guys are the real slim shadies. In other words, they're extremely dangerous! The strongest of all regular enemies in the game, they can block most of your attacks, vault and counter attacks are useless, and they have speed. Does it get any worse than this? With their armor, yes! Even if you can get a hit on them, chances are that you'll hit their armor, meaning that you didn't do any damage. Sounds hopeless, right? Wrong! Wall-Rebound attacks are so deadly against them. When on the ground after a single wall strike, use the dagger to finish off these mights.
Is that it? No. There are birds, monkies, beetles, tiger, and the like that are also infected. However, you just need to slash them to finish them off: no dagger is needed. There are also two bosses in the game, in which they are difficult to beat. But with this info, you should be ready enough to make it through 80% of the game without dying in battle! Good luck, gamer!
