Is this the same copy of 007 you used before? It sounds like a case of the game being patched to fail when trying to load the game save. Or it is also possible that the game saves are being corrupted when transfering them to the AR mem card. Do you have another mem card you could try? _________________

This is the same 007 I used for previous mods, the XBox is
different, the manufacture date was just a month ago, which
is why I was wondering. I am using the A/R, same as before.
I have formatted it, tried different saves. The only thing
different is the date on the new XBox. I will look into
trying with another older one to see if there is any
difference.
Thanks
Ed

Ok, I discovered the problem. Loose connection between the
chair and the contorller It turns out that since it was
an absolute virgin XBox, I was trying to do the mod with
as little baggage as possible on the HD, as such, I was
attempting to run the save from the controller, why not, it
gave me the choice. After figuring this out, I was
finally able to get the installer to load. BUTT, NOW, when iit
tried to install the softmod, it got errors with the UNrar,
beginning with the very first file., so... I FTPed into the
xbox, copied the associated 45xxxx folders and files into
the Udata directory on E:, and then, did the install dash,
That part seemed to go ok, but, still didn't want to
boot. I played with this for a while, then, restored the
backup of C: to try and start over. THIS worked, but,
after several attempts, I finally went to restore to
factory and call it a night when, I somehow erased C,
and the back up, and started with all the associated
error codes. Ended up doing what I hadn't wanted to
do, and, that was open my brand new box. I put the
drive into a modded XBox and restored everything,
now it is working as purchased. While open, I tried to
softmod a 120 gig seagate, ( same model as in the
borrowed modded Xbox ), and, am getting an unlock
error. I am probably just going to install a SmartXX
board I have since the box has now been opened.
Just wanted to let you know that the problem
was user error. Who would have thought
So, just for refference, the latest boxes seem to
accpt the CODE for the softmod. Even after
getting everything back up and running, the soft
mod doesn't seem to want to take. Since I am
no longer conserned about opening the box, I will
play a bit more and keep you posted.

I have tried the softmod using Splintercell PAL original (2002) on an V1.1. As soon as I loaded the Linux profile I recieved the standard error msg on the Xbox stating that and error had occured and I need to call customer service. I also got the flashing Red LED on the front. Any ideas why this has happened or whether i am doing anything wrong?

Firstly, why are you bothering to softmod when you have a modchip?? There's no need for it.
To access the menu for softmod installer deluxe boot your xbox with the tray open, and it will come up with it's menu.
Does that help?

I'd recommend not worrying about softmodding and get your chip working. It will be better in the long run
Please make a post in the Modchip Forums about this.

It is the PAL version of Splinter Cell. Not the Classics, the original. How can i find the version number of the game?

I can help out on the Original MechAssault number. MS02301L L1 01. The number is on the inner ring on the bottom of the disk and is laser etched in. It's a little bit difficult to read. I ordered a used version of the game from GameStop for about six dollars and was lucky enough to get it.

Would this be the same number for the PAL version of it?

Hi,
I have ran through the software and I am very impressed. However, I have ran a seriese of tests and continue to get one problem and I was hoping you could help.
1. I transfered the files to the E of a modded box, then I used the same box with the chip turned off to test the application launch. All was well and installed just fine.
2. Now I transfered the save to a memory card, deleted the game save on the drive, transfered it back to the hard drive from the mc and when I run the app, I get a black screen of death.
3. I thought that it may have something to do with the transfer. I used 3 transfer apps during the test. UnleashX saves manager, Xbox Dash, and Xb-saves PC application. All the same, a black screen of death.
4. Thinking it was files I compared them to what was on my PC and they all matched, so I am at a loss. I want the ability to softmod any Xbox and that is why the MC save is important to me.
