So i can do the C restore to play on LIVE then reinstall the game save hack with MA again to get my softmod back right ??? and still be safe on live .. correct? just checking but you referenced waffle tools so im pretty sure you put that in here. thanks man and keep up the good work... god i love this site!!!
You should be able to do this when you remove the softmod from C Drive (which restoring your MS backup does) and removing the hacked gamesaves from E Drive just to be sure.
The main reason why I referenced Waffletools is coz that is the softmod system I had a look at to see how it all works.

I'm stuck at the Install Dashboard option with EvoX. I installed the softmod with no issue, but when I tell the system to Install EvoX i get an error box with nothing inside. I didnt try the other dashboard but I am also afraid to modify anything because i'm unsure what to do since this is a softmod and I want want to explode anything. Any ideas what the problem is here, and how best to go about getting Evo onto the system?
i am having the same ERROR message, on all 3 consoles that i have soft modded.

Which exploit in particular are you talking about?

I was using the splintercell ntsc exploit for my attempt. I unrar'd the bittorrented package and copied over the two folders inside the splintercell directory. I didnt unrar anything inside those two directories but did confirm there is an evox rar, along with several other rars.
When the exploit installed the softmod I watched it install things like the DVD player for no issue. I'm not sure why EvoX returns an error. With no error code being presented in the error window so I can't offer tons of help.
How can we install EvoX by hand with a softmod so we can get around this strange issue? Or do you have other suggestions for us?

You could manually FTP evox to C or E drive whilst in the softmod menu, as it does support FTP. Check out the settings to make sure you set the right IP address for your xbox before attempting it though. You may need to restart the softmod again after you'd set the IP address because the Xbox might not pick it up straight away.
Also, out of interest, where did you install evox, and does UnleashX do the same thing?

Unleasx "looked" like it was installing but the copy process lasted about .5 seconds. I attemped to install Evox to the c drive first and then to the e drive.
If there is anything you can think of for me to try that may help you track down the problem let me know. I'm willing to help. Since all I have to do is hit one button to restore everything to original condition.

The copy process is very quick, unless you get an error message saying something went wrong, everything is fine.
I checked my splinter cell ntsc gamesave for the evox rar file, it seems fine here from what I can see. Mind you I do have the Splinter Cell PAL version here and I have no worries, and it's exactly the same exploit, just a different profile gamesave which goes alongside it.

OK, this is interesting. I ftp'd to the xbox after reinstalling the softmod and attempting a evox install on the e drive. Again I got the error. Inside the E drive I found a directory called "evoxdash.xbe".
Now I was pretty sure this should be a file, and not a directory. This could be why we are seeing the empty error screen?
Update: I installed evox by hand on the e drive with no issues via ftp.
I was pretty sure there was an option to backup the bios file so that I could create a bigger hard drive, but so far havent round such options inside evox. There was a "backup" option but I didnt find a bios file in the C drive. My hard drive is locked though, not sure if that has something to do with that.
Update 2 : Bios.bin along with all the other EvoX backed up files were placed in my root E drive. As DJB said (and so did EvoX Faq) they point you to C drive for these files. Par for the course on this somewhat funky install of mine I guess.

I'd say so...
Don't ask me how the hell it's making a folder called that, I double-checked my script and the rar file and there's no way it could be my work being wrong.
If possible I'd suggest trying another one of the exploits, as I have absolutely no idea why this is doing this.

Well the good news is, that other than having to install EvoX by hand everything still worked and the backup features all worked (which was important). So this really isnt Major.
I would be interested in hearing from HappyHero if after the failed EvoX install if he also finds a evoxdashboard.xbe folder installed on his drive and not a file.

Two of my XBoxes were stolen over the weekend,
One was a version 1.0 with a spiderchip and a 120 gig HD,
the other was a 1.6 softmodded. The 1.6 was manufactured
last spring, and was using the UXE007 softmod that ends
up in French. I was unable to locate a used XBox, so,
purchased a new one. The Manufacture date on the new
one is 2004 - 12 -20. I downloaded the softmod deluxe 1.0,
and got an error 21 upon trying to install. I read through
the forums and discovered that a 1.01 was available, so,
downloaded that, with the same results. I then tried the
UXE007 mod that I had used on my 1.6 box before, and,
got the same error 21 message. Might Microshaft have made
some changes or fixes to get around the softmodding?
Any other suggestions?
