I am modding another XBOX in the hope of it working. My hopes were shattered today.
I have bought a 1.6 crystal XBOX (like my other one, but with different drives) and a 2.6 Xecuter chip. I have installed it properly, as far as I can tell, with the 1.6 LPC rebuild PCB. I have checked some of the dodgy points on the LPC but they all appear fine. Can anybody tell me why it won't work?
Also some thing REALLY weird: if I boot without chip on and then turn it on while booting, the XBOX shuts down and then comes back on with the retail BIOS but no animation.

Show a little patience, Id help you but Im a softmod guy and know very little other than basics about modchips. Wes213 or TheRealHypnotix should be around anytime now and they both should be able to help you. Unfortunately now days regular members tend to only show up for help so pretty much all the support gets done by the staff and Im the only one whos here pretty much when ever Im not working.

I know what you are saying, but a daytime low of 2 member is pretty poor. I might as well resolder the points while I'm waiting for an answer. At least I have another modded box to mess with for now.

I know it seems to come in spurts, one day its dead like a cemetary, next theres a bunch of people here looking for info on modding. Im trying to revive it by releasing new apps and mod packages and switching the tuts over to video but its slow going.

Ever since the discontinued production of the xbox its going to be slow, as for the problem you are having it could be many things, solder splash, the chip is not seated properly, or its not reading a eeprom or broken traces bad chip or the fact it may not be liking the bios.
Look over everything in the area of the LPC board sits very carefully, check for burned contact points, if you don't see anything visually wrong try programming with a different bios than whats on the chip.
Or throw a unlocked harddrive in and see what happens.
The last time I dealt with christmas lights was because of a bad flash. _________________

I haven't even got to the flashing stage yet... the FlashBIOS doesn't show up.
It's probably not a splash because it only fails when the modchip is on.

If you can test the chip on a different xbox as a bad chip can happen, 9 out of 10 frag lights for me are just a bad DO point as it is the hard one to solder being it is small but needs good contact.
Its a duuu thing to say but look out for that God forsaken solder splash.
