Maybe it's just my LCD, but does anyone else have issues with the display, and being able to read that damn thing?
I've adjusted the brightness up/down, and no workey... I hafta get to about 3 inches from the display to even read WTF it says!
IMO, the LCD is worthless...

I had the same problem with mine after about a week of use. I think the LCD/CP binds and flexs the LCD so it isn't displaying properly. When I first had it, it was pretty good, clear and bright. But all of the sudden, one day, half the display you couldn't see. Once I got up close, I actually could just barely see it (and if you pressed on the LCD or the panel, it would sort of work).
Anyway, nothing was shorting out (there were problems with that before), and I just sent it back. Not sure if they are sending me a new one or refunding my $$$. Grin.

Mine works great and I've had it for probably 6 months now. Never had any sort of issues, I love the damn thing. That stinks that it doesn't work for some people because it really is a cool feature. _________________ XBOX v1.6c

That's good to know that they aren't ALL the POS that I got.
Mine has been like this from day 1!
Since I can't see mine, what does yours display?
Does it display current games being played? or the time?
In other words, what if the LCD's best selling feature? _________________ All I got in this world is my balls and my word and I don't break them for nobody!

I don't have an issue with the LCD, although.....I do have a problem with the panel, it didn't really fit right. When I put the lid on snug, it pushes the panel in, and the power button will get stuck on because the power/eject PCB is getting squezed between the case. The top of my case has to be slightly off for it to operate right. Anybody else have the same problem?
The only thing that really displays "useful" information are XBMC and the newer builds of DVD2XBOX, other then that, it's just for looks. _________________

My CP barley fits in there too. My major issue is with all of the extra wires, and no where to put them all.
I ended up removing that plastic 'mowhawk' that is under the HDD, just so I could fit more wires under there.
I have no clue where to put the two little boards with stickers on the back; so for now they're just mashed next to the power supply.
The teamxecuter tutorial for the CP didn't really show ya where to put all the wires... Anyone have a better tutorial for the CP? _________________ All I got in this world is my balls and my word and I don't break them for nobody!

Mine fits really perfect actually, it took a little working it around to get it right, but I got it. The only problem I have is that my cover doesn't exactly fig snug with the top of the unit, but I believe it's from my LED jewel kit than the CP itself. I used this tutorial to install mine, hopefully it is of some help to you. http://www.baldbouncer.btinternet.co.uk/x3cpfit2.jpg _________________ XBOX v1.6c

ive never used a cp, but from my understanding these type lcd displays are something like leds. like i said, im not expert, but i think for every so many manufactured you are gonna get a dud. thats not just lcds and leds though, its pretty much any electronic. one person might get RAM, CPU, and a graphics card that you can overclock to heck and back, and the next will get the exact same brand and part thats only good at factory settings. i wish you luck. try contacting team xecuter for some information, and maybe you can get them to hook you up with a new lcd. _________________ wetbox rusty pc

I just skimmed this topic,
Did you adjust the wheel on the chip it self for brightness, as well as the internal software adjustments...
ALso, if you are using an older bios (just for info's sake) btwn 3029 and presents 3294 (Last 2 known stable builds) the lcd would cause x3cl to freeze. You have to turn off the lcd on the software before making any adjustments such as a change in text and brightness adjusting. _________________ XBOX v1.6

Also, with any metal contacts, you should take the time to cover the back side of the lcd with electrical tape to prevent short outs along the RF shielding. _________________ XBOX v1.6

thanks for the advice, SA. But yes, the contrast wheel didn't help in my case (this was a screwed LCD). Also, I can't see that the LCD needs the electrical tape anymore, as it looks like they have metal tabs that keep the RF shielding away from any/all electronics on the back of the LCD now. Just my $0.02.
Oh, and XBMC does have a LOT of very cool features for the LCD. You can even set it up to make it easy to boot right into your music play list and navigate the songs via the LCD and not have to even turn your TV on.

Well you never know what could arc, even modgod called for it. Its just a simple precaution, b/c it should very well should be covered. I live in a high humiditiy area, so under proper/extreme circumstances I could lose it...also if I were doing a lot of metal grinding in my room...lol.
As far as you losing your contrast, did you open up the unit at all? I remember a case modder saying he wanted to get rid of the light pollution around the edges and actually opened it up. Problem is, Xecuter even said it needs the pressure of being machined closed, now you could do this your self but it would just take time. Maybe yours came "loose" some how inside and wasn't enough to keep it in full contact. _________________ XBOX v1.6

Just installed mine and no problems at all.
Theres a wheel on the X3 that handles contrast and the brightness is handled via software in the bios I think.
LCD looked poor until both were changed from how they were at standard, on full brightness you could light the room with it.

Never did open it up. But I did get a replacement from The Mod Chip where I bought it and it is working GREAT. Thanks for the fast replacement by those guys. They are selling the whold LCD/CP for $47 shipped right now.
