Hi Darthron,
I spoke with DJB about this today myself and he assures me it works on v1.6's definately.. He has tested on quite a few machines from v1.1 to v1.6 and has worked flawlessly..
It explains in the documentation that you must be running a CERTAIN VERSION of the M$ Dashboard though..
anyway, im sure DJB will reply when he has some time.

what is the higest version of the Xbox/MsDashBoard This Works on? Cuz i am thinking of buying an xbox and wanted to know this so i would know if i need to buy an used xbox or if an new xbox would work
thanks inadvance i would love to know asap plz
thanks.
p.s. it appears it works on Xboxs all the way up to version 1.6 or is that incorrect
To install the actual softmod it doesn't matter what MS dash you have. However if you want the MS dash to actually work after the softmod you need the latest dash (5960). This comes standard with all xboxes 1.6 and up I believe.
Other people with lower dashes will have to install the softmod, then use something lke Auto-Installer Deluxe to install the latest Dashboard.

No, it doesn't matter what ms dash is on there first off. I did a friend's 1.1 with it yesterday and it worked fine, I just updated the dash to 5960 using Auto-Installer Deluxe after I initially installed the softmod.
Ofcourse you have to perform the softmod stage again after you have the new dashboard on there.

so, if i buy a brand new xbox and it has or i update it to MS Dashboard(version) 5960, then i should be able to run the installer just as easlisy as some one w/an older xbox and an older version of the ms DAshboard
Again
Thank you very, very much, DJB

With Xboxes 1.6 and up you shouldn't even need to update the dashboard

i was just curious i have a soft mod done already, long long ago when this was first around, If i redo it will it just over write the exisiting softmod?
and another question is i want to be able to upgrade the HD, but i didn't know if i could with a softmodded xbox. Is this possible? or do i need to solder or get a modchip?
thanks

Yep it will overwrite yor exsisting softmod if you put this one on. About softmodding an xbox with an upgraded drive, haven't done it yet but I do know it's possible. Check out our Tutorial section and you might be able to find some info.

I have the orginal splinter cell and mech assulat but they are the newer ones(patched) so that idea just got thrown out the window. how do you tell just by looking at disc if its the older one. Also could i take my mod chip that is in my xbox and put it in a freinds xbox then run the auto installler and then remove the mod chip is this possibale. Sorry just new to the softmodding part of the scene. thanks.

I'm stuck at the Install Dashboard option with EvoX. I installed the softmod with no issue, but when I tell the system to Install EvoX i get an error box with nothing inside. I didnt try the other dashboard but I am also afraid to modify anything because i'm unsure what to do since this is a softmod and I want want to explode anything. Any ideas what the problem is here, and how best to go about getting Evo onto the system?

It would appear that for one reason or another, simply uncompressing the evox rar file from the downloaded package into c: didnt seem to work to well for me. The ftp process hung most of the way thru and now my system gets the green "you need service" screen (error 13).
I backed up the xbox hard drive, but never got to back up the bios because I never actually got evox working. With the backed up files and the bios I was pretty sure I could recover from a mess like this. I'm not sure without the bios I was told to backup if there is anything I can do to get around the now dead system.

Load the game back up and rerun the hack, then use your backup. That I know how to fix.

YOu can't change the hard disk WITHOUT a chip mod. The softmods are limited, and that is one of the limitations.
You can't boot to an auto-installer without a CHIP, so you can't setup the new hard disk.
$19.00 for a chip dude, four solder points, and DLC soldering, is EASY!

first of all, well you can upgrade your hd with a softmod. You just have to use HDD Manager found in our downloads section.

Its happened before since I've softmodded over 35 peoples around my town lol. Anywho, DJB I got a quick question for ya! Apparently you can tell by looking at a certain number of the disc, but I dunno anymore about that (this is all I've herad).
You "might" be able to put a modchip in your friend's xbox, isntall the softmod, and remove the chip. I wouldn't know thought coz I've never done it.
Maybe looking around the tutorial sections might help you out...
