Hi Guys,
Ok, so Am I missing something here?
Ive modded god knows how many xbox, do quite a few a week, so Im not a noob.
But I have a 1.0 xbox (my own) and purely by accident, flashed my chip with the m8plus16 bios, and it booted just fine
to test an make sure it was the 16, I flashed a chip on a 1.6 xbox, with the same bios bin, that booted just fine too.
am I missing something thats been wrote or mentioned regarding this?
btw I used xecuter2.6ce for both, and flashed the whole chip (mainly to test the theory)

Well, funny enough the BFM BIOS I used for my dual-boot setup uses m8+ 1.6 aswell (just being a generic bios from my installer setup).
I know you have to use it for xbox's 1.6 and up, but this is interesting, plus the fact you're actually flashing this too.

Yea, I was real surprised, and would never have known if not for the accidental flash.
My xbox is the 1.0 , with a 4034 MS
the one I just finished modding, that I flashed the same bios to, was a 1.6 manuf nov 2004.
I have however used a bios tool to increase the fan and mess with the colour/ flubber, set the bios to take the rest of the space on the f:\ partition, and the bios size is 1mb
Im just wondering if anyone else has "discovered" this, of all the forums etc I see, noone that I can gather, has tried flashing a none 1.6 with the bios. (maybe scared bad flash)

the bioses have small differences related to hardware changes ,
so u r still able to boot the xbox 1.0 with those bios ...
but tell me why the hell would you run a 87 octane on an engine that requires a 93 octane or viceversa?

This is true, but then again I come back to the point I'm using Evox m8+ 1.6 as my BFM and it's all fine. But like I said having a BFM oipposed to flashed chip with this BIOS could be different.

Ive changed it back to my orig bios config, I didnt leave it like that, knowing it wasnt "supposed" to be flashed with that bios.
It just surprised me that it booted.

Most early consoles will boot the M8_16 and M8plus_16 however some will boot only to a blank screen. _________________ V1.4
