Regardless modchip on a version 1.1 Xbox, I can't boot it up. I see the animation, but can't get the BIOS to boot. I did notice that hole 3 on the LPC's pad looked kind of damaged. When I put the chip on, I get a flashing Xbox tree on the eject led. Is there anyway to fix this, as I do see the initial animation when I power up the box.
thanks... _________________ Hamzter...

Hiya
Make sure the original hard drive and DVD are plugged in, boot it and leave it a minute or too, a service screen should load with a 2 digit error number, let us know that.

I doubt it has anything to do with the LPC as you would get an immediate frag. When chip install is bad, typically you get the machine power on and off three times and then you get the FRAG.
I would wonder if the bios that you have flashed to the chip is looking to the F drive for the dash or if it's looking to C.
What bios did you flash to the mod chip? Let us kno what mod chip you are using and what bios you are using...

I have the Xbit 1.5, using the x2_4983.67_256k.bin bios, and I do get the 3 reboots with the chip installed. When I don't have the modchip plugged in, the box boots up to the point where it says it needs service. I do not get the 2 digit error code.
Is there a way to fix this? _________________ Hamzter...

Hiya the error code is in the top corner on the service screen.
If your getting 3 reboots will almost have to be LPC or dodgy bios,

You're right... it has 05, and says your Xbox requires service. I don't have the original HD, but do have the backup. The led reboots 3 times when the chip is installed. This Xbox did work before when an older Xecuter chip was installed. Then it stopped working with the older chip. I then removed the older chip and replaced it with the XBit 1.5, and still get the same results.
Is this Xbox fixable? _________________ Hamzter...

heya
yes it's definatley fixable, first of all I would desolder the lpc bus, check all the tracks, if ok them resolder again.
The 05 error is just cos the hard drive is not locked which you can do when you get the chip working.
If I was you I would re-flash the bios, what size hard drive is it?
So try re-soldering from scratch and then re-flash the bios with xecuter 4983.06.bin (I would reccomend)
Thanks

I have reflashed, and it still does not work. I am doing this with the solderless Xbit Solution. I am not even getting the Microsoft Logo on the boot up, I am just getting the animation. _________________ Hamzter...

If you are using a solderless install then you need to make sure the chip is aligned properly. Then your frag condition will go away. Do take note though. I recently had a customers xbox (jiggysmb from here) who I installed a Xenium Ice mod chip in about two months or so ago.
He immediately started getting intermittent frag conditions.... The power cycling and all. Was very strange.
I removed his chip and installed a known good chip and all was fine. I took his chip that I removed and installed on another machine that had a known good pin header install and it fragged the same. It turned out to be a bum chip. So, if you truly think the chip is lined up properly, and you have covered all of your bases then I would say it's possible you have a defective chip.
Also, just a tip. I always keep the stock HD in the machine until I have the chip successfully flahed and installed. This way, you don't get any other types of errors to confuse you..ie: error 05. If the chip doesn't frag, but yet still doesn't work you end up just getting the MS dash and bios.

Unfortunately I do not have the original drive, but do have a backup of the original installed. This unit used to work with an old Xecuter chip. I have tried running both the SmartXX and XBit, and still no luck. All pins are aligned and the green led on the XBit comes on when I do get a frag, but when I pull the chip out, the Xbox boots and if I put the Slayer DVD, it seems to come up with the doesn't recognize the disk.
So I know the DVD works, as it works in other machines. There used to be a header pin installed, and I have since removed the header pin. Like I said the XBit lights up, but I get the rebooting when the chip is installed. I am not sure of what else to try. I can take the XBit in one old box that works, a 1.0 and move it to the 1.1, and that is where I am having the trouble.
thanks all for the help... But is this box recoverable? _________________ Hamzter...

The backup is okay, but here is the issue. You must get your chip working first so you can lock it to the motherboard.
When you get the error, what is happening is your chip is disabled and your MS bios is booting. When it sees a HD that is not locked to the motherboard it gives you the error05 code.
It sounds like when your chip is enabled, you frag (Frequent red and Green light.)
Your slayer disk will not work until a successfully flashed chip is recognized. Your xbox is not capable of running any unassigned code until so. Also, if you are using a HD that was in another machine and locked to another motherboard you are going to end up with error code 06 unless that motherboard was unlocked PRIOR to removing.
Your problem right now isn't your HD. Your problem is your chip isn't getting activated. After you can get to chip to work, then you will be confronted with any HD issues if they exist.

You're right it is a chip issue, but I can't get any chip to work in this box. I have tried 3 different ones with valid Bios's, and still no luck. I am not sure where else to go with this. The last result would be to solder the wires down to the LPC port.
I guess... _________________ Hamzter...

It seems to me that the older Xecuter was having intermittent problems with the soldered in header pin. Are there any recommendations on what to look for on the LPC? _________________ Hamzter...
