Hi,
Just wanted to introduce myself. I am a programmer and late 2020 I got an original xbox to soft mod so I could make homebrew for it. Actually I got an xbox about 12 years ago, I soft modded it the cheap way, by having a cd play for a while and then swapping the ide cable... what an experience that was. After modding my xbox I installed the xdk and wanted to make a demo for the xbox, but then I accidentally bricked my xbox... now Many years later I got another xbox, modded it with Splinter Cell and a Usb stick (much easier!).
Originally I was planning to mod my xbox to add additional ram, but I didn't know there were newer models that didn't have the pads to solder the extra chips on.
Any way, I am working on something as we speak. Coding for the xbox is pretty fun so far... maybe a sneak peek:
If you need an Xbox board that you can ram upgrade let me know I can send you one for a cheap price and I know people who can do the ram upgrades if you are not experienced enough to do it as it's a very hard process and very easy to mess up.
Thanks for the offer, but I've found a model 1.4 xbox on a local market place. I've actually already soldered parts with a similar pin pitch (0.5mm I believe the memory chips are 0.65mm). My plan is to get the 'same' chips as what's already on the board so I can just leave the old ones on and install the new ones.

OpenXDK is an Open Source, Free, Legal Xbox Development Kit. OpenXDK is being developed to facilitate hobbyist and "homebrew" coding for the Microsoft Xbox and providing a free alternative to the official Microsoft XDK.
