So yesterday I come home from work turn on my PC to be greeted by a pink screen. I reboot same thing. So I decide to try an narrow down the problem, install a new video card driver, nothing. Uninstal the 6850 and run off the onboard 4250 and boom looks perfect. So now I figure its the vid card. So I try a reinstall get pink screen. So now I wipe my HDD, put in a brandnew 500GB made a partition and loaded windows onto it same thing. So after about 6 hours of messing around, my friend says what if its the TV? I turn off the TV and back on works perfect. Lost all that stuff and all that work for nothing.
Wont be any vids for a while and I may be slow responding to help requests until I get my PC back in order, Im stuck using a piece of shite Vaio and HP laptop

That truly sucks man, seems odd that the pic worked for the on board chip but not the card.

I know I was thinking my vid card was dead after only 2 months. I'll gladly take the work of reinstalling all my stuff and 40 billion windows updates over dumping another 300 on a new video card though any day

dude that sucks, did you get it all sorted?
To some degree, Ive got it working again but I havent figured what the problem is. Im convinced its something to do with my card just because the onboard worked. Its the weirdest thing, when I first boot I get a Gigabyte splash screen thats yellow and blue and its colour stayed the same the whole time, but as soon as Windows started I would get the pink screen.
Im in the process now of reinstalling everything which takes forever I cant believe around 40 inutes to install Res Evil 5. Im hoping to have it done this weekend so I can pump out a video guide for a 360 game and win that case

Didnt you say you just spent like 900 bucks on new parts? If all fails shouldn't you be able to then back and get a new pc? I saw one of the touchscreen All in one PCs on TV for about 1k.

Yeah its all under warranty. Just built it like 2 months ago. If I have to I can send the vid card in and get another but that takes 6 to 8 weeks which hookers me unless I buy another. My onboard just doesn't have the juice for vid editing or gaming

I'd get a refund and just order one of these, Dunno if it's the same but this thing has 1TB, 4GB ram DDR3, Touch skin etc...I think those are the specs if I remember right. Only 750 too.

Rest of my tower is fine, its just the card (i think). The big problem with the all in one PCs is youre stuck using a passive cooled card which means bunk as far as dedicated cards go. Plus I hate pre built towers they always stick you with subpar part. Toshiba HDD, or Hynex RAM, etc. If I get the pink screen again Im gonna RMA the card, put my old 4670 in til they ship the replacement
That tower is actualy a rip off, obsolete CPU, integrated graphics. No way Im trading in a Phem2 BE for an athlon Thanx for the link though.

Turns out a little piece of the gold plating on my vid cards HDMI port had come loose. Took the card to the wholesaler I got it from and they replaced it no questions asked. I dont know if this is a common issue with Gigabyte Windforce 6850 vid cards but anyone whos got one and gets the pink screen check your HDMI port. Other than that Im quite happy with it, I can jack all my games to absolute max settings and I havent even had to OC it or my CPU yet. Anyone looking for a card better than a 5770 but less than the DC 58/5970 the 6850 is a perfect choice (5850 with higher memoryclock and 256 bit instead of 128). I havent tried Crysis 2 yet on it but it chewed Crysis 1 up like nothing

Good to see your back on track bro and i feel the same about any pre built PC, you pay 40% of the cost for parts and 60% for the name on the tower.
Build your own PC and the parts are better while the cost is lower.
