I can get to the Backup Bios. I cannot flash a new bios. I have tried every combination I can think of. I set the switches correctly and tried X3 3294 on cd or dvd and X2 5035 on cd or dvd. The only bios I ahve been able to get it to read is one off of the hdd, by accident, which is part of the problem, I think.
Every once in a great while it will boot to the error code 5 screen - I have a drive hooked up that needs to be refit for this box.
Honestly I am tired of trying to get this hardmod to work. I have a half dozen threads about it on here now.
You can`t flash a new bios ? ... What bios is on the chip ? _________________

I am stuck booting into the backup flashbios 3.01. I have tried flashing via network (which won't work because I have no ftp setup, cause I have no dash), flashing via cd, dvd, multiple different bios'es, and hdd flashing by accident, which is what screwed up my onboard flash I think...
I am thinking of removing the chip. But I am going to quadruple check the pins first. It is an x3 after all.
If you have Flashbios on there you need to use the Eurasia pro generic flash disc
Burn it to disc (preferably DVD-R) as an image and then burn a bios of your choice to a seperate disc (as data - and rename the file to bios.bin ), boot with Eurasia then when the DVD drawer opens stick the bios disc in and hopefully it will flash. _________________

I use the flashbios tool off the slayers disk, as other methods had given me problems. Could try that. And I used the Bios's off the AID disk.

The Eurasia disc didn't boot. I can't boot anything except the flash backup, I only get xmas lights.
I am gonna take a look at the Slayers disc...

Can't boot slayers either.
The only thing that seems to work is flashing from C:\bios but the file has to be in xbe format. All the bios files are in .bin format.
I can't go back to non-chipped because I don't have the original eeprom.
Please give advice?

So, maybe I'm doing something painfully wrong. I have tried every combination of switches and bios discs trying to get the X3 flashed. It seems the chip works fine - that is it will boot into the flash backup when I press eject and power at the same time and long power still disables the chip.
It just can't read the discs for some reason, it keeps spitting them out and asking for a disc. I have tried dvd-r and cd-r.
Where can I find a bios in .xbe format so I can load it off an unlocked hd? Is that even possible?

Ok, so I was finally smart enough to try http flashing. No matter what disc combo I used, it wouldn't work.
I am now able to log into Aid. Thank you GOD!
I am trying to figure out how to set the x3 (it think it's a ce chip) so that I can do a short power press and it boots? The only way to boot now is to press eject.
edit - I can't get into Config Live to check the settings. The hold white button down trick isn't working...

I'm also led back to one of my original issues, which was ShutDown in xbmc simply reboots the box. I'm not sure if the glitch is with XBMC or the Chip... But I still can't figure out how to get to config live... There has to be another way, besides the white button...

So I read somewhere that if you put a blank hdd in the xbox, it will boot to config live because there is no default dash. Tried it and it works!
So I have now successfully flashed 3294 and am able to access config live!
I cannot figure out how to fix the eject button is the only way to power on the xbox issue. Nor can I figure out how to stop it from rebooting when you use the shutdown command in any dash (including config live and aid).
Does anyone have any ideas?

I have disconnected the pwr/eject board from the x3 chip. This seems to have solved the power button issues, but I am not 100% that there aren't bad traces on the mobo. I have given it a thorough inspection, but I can't see anything...

All the BIOS' I've installed have been .BIN files. I have a X-3 and use .BIN files with it and have flashed multiple times with them with no problems...
So why do you think you need to use .XBE files for your bios?

It just seemed like that was the extension it was looking for.
I have successfully flashed 3294 via http.
I am now trying to figure out why I cant access config live with the white button, why shutdown in the menu only reboots and why the power button only works to turn off the xbox (with a long press).

Just a few thoughts:
1) Are you SURE you have a 1.0 Xbox? I know some of the points are different depending on the version of Xbox you are installing it in and if you soldered one wire to the wrong place it could cause some odd things to happen.
2) The reset problem may be a bios specific one. Try grabbing a more updated bios (If you haven't already ). I remember reading something about that...
3) I have an X3 and just tried the "white button" startup also and got nothing. It may be anoying, but I'd put that on the back burner and center on the first two problems...
