History:
I softmodded using Mech Assault, Ftp'd and backuped c and e drive.
used xbhdm 1.9, built HD from scratch, and locked it.
redid the softmod, and it boots up with evolutionx dash.
downloaded XBMCID 1.20, have booted with the installer.
formatted the drives, installed the MS Dashboard, installed the one click softmod, installed XBMC to different drives, c, e, g. (softmod)
also, went to the softmod section, unmounted virtual c: drive - not sure if it was.
Installed the single boot, selected the standard for HD.
also installed the xbmc on e: not the softmod one, wasn't sure if this applied also.
Xbox boots up with the evolutionx dashboard. I can select the MS dashboard and it works.
had a problem with the MS Dash, used the XBMCID v1.20 to reinstall the ms dash and now that works.
went into the advanced features and tried to boot to the dashboard on e, it brings a little circle in the upper right hand corner and then a blank screen. I can hear it click when i scroll down but I don't get anything on the screen.
It is probably something stupid i missed, but I want the XBMC Dash as my primary dashboard.
I have combed through the forums, looking for simular problems, but have not seen any that describes mine.
and yea, I have gotten the error 13,16,21 errors before, but thanks to the XBHDM 1.9, building a new XBHD is a snap.
boots directly to evolutionx dash, can get to ms dash, games will boot.
Not sure where to proceed from here.

Well, this is what i have done since my first post.
1. booted with the XBMCID 1.20 cd
2. formatted HDD
3. unmounted virtual c: (not sure it was)
4. one click softmod
5. rebooted and removed cd.
6. ring in the upper right corner and a blank screen. can move controller and hear the clicking. think this is xbox media center screen but still can't see it.
7. booted with XBMCID Disk and installed the MSDash 5690.
rebooted the Xbox and now the MS Dash is coming up. in the memory is the following items:
SID 5.10
XBMC
XBMC Installer Deluxe
Xbox Media Center
It will not boot from the XBMCID v1.20 disk anymore, it's looking for a xbox game.
do I have to redo my Hack with Mech Assault or will that screw up something?

ok,
1. redid the hack, copied save to HD, started game and ran linux.
2. installed softmod, restarted and now i'm back to evolutionx startup screen.
3. restarted with XBMCID.
4. formatted HD, backuped epromm
5. unmounted C: drive and went back to the main menu and selected the one-click softmod.
6. blank screen again, but it did come up with the xbmc logo at first, inserted the DVD and let it boot up. selected restart from the XBMCID and removed the DVD and NOW i have the XBMC up.
restarted with the XBMCID DVD and installed all applications, emulators, and skins.
will try and play a game and goto the MSDASH hope it works.

well, I have the apps and emulators. It boots up with XBMC now.
loaded a game from the dvd drive.
time to learn how to backup my games to the HD, send my music and videos.
Modding a XBOX is like skinning a cat, there are more ways than one.
If i learned anything, keep trying, and if it don't work, try something else. Take notes and figure out what works for you.
well, i'm sure i will be back to learn more things that i have not come across yet.
Its good to hear that you persevered and your efforts were successful. Try DVD2XBOX for your game to hard drive backups, its easy to use and does a decent job. _________________

I think i'm going to have some fun with this. It's much better than the original xbox.
