Posted: Mon Oct 13, 2008 5:15 am Post subject: Switched DVD Drive, now XBMC is all Screwed!!!!!!
Hello, Hi I am new to the forum. I've been searching online for about 3 hours before I came across this site and decided to donate and jump In. Please know I have searched for a hour or so and havent found a answer to my dilemma. OK here it goes, I have a Hard Modded XboX, The disc drive has slowly been dying for the last 2 years or so. It started not playing DVD's and any Burned DVD format discs. It didn't bug me too much being I always watch movies and shows I put on DVD Data Discs. Well over time the drive Quit playing those as well, So I went and bought a samsung SDG-605. I put it in the X-box and now Hey! the it plays DVD's Burned DVD's and X box games again. But now the XBMC wont read the data discs(of which I've amassed stacks and stacks of ). So I have read that the Samsung is supposed to be the best drive for the x-box and being it now reads DVD's again I know the laser is working, and all the other mod features seem to work. Where can I cange my settings so it reads data discs, Please Help. I am not tech savvy enough to go change a bunch of settings.

Different disk formats will work with Different drives so other then looking for a Samsung 605 pot screw fix you will most likely need to start cutting all your disks in XISO format.

Well the thing is The Discs I have been using are listed as working for the samsung and all my discs were burned using the DVD Rom format which is also compatible with samsung. And I don't think it is the Drive that is the problem. So if its not the Drive, the Discs or the way the discs were burned what could it be.

If its reading everything but a data disc i would say pot screw or the drive just don't like data disks.
