i have a modded box with a Xecuter 2 in it. every so often it would simply stop loading the dashboard. it would kinda just hang there at the xBox Logo that appears when you boot up. eventually it would come back with an Error 13 and sometimes 7.
don't ask me why, but i used to temporarily fix this problem by opening the box up and unplugging the IDE cable and power supply to the HDD. i'd let it sit for a minute or two, plug em back in, and presto! it would miraculously work again!
well, now it simply gives me the Error 7 code and doesn't do shit from this point. i understand this error means a bad IDE cable. but, i'm inclined to believe it's something else since i've swapped out the cable and still no luck.
i'm not familiar with these Xecuter chips (i was given this xBox) so i don't know how to fix this problem.
anyone out there have the same problem and know how to fix this?
thank you!!

honestly, i don't know what's going on at this point. let's assume it is a bad HDD and that this error will always be there.
is there a way for me to extract the data on this HDD? i'm trying to salvage 200GB worth of data. i don't care if i can't use it in this box or ever again. i just want the data!
any ideas?!

Well if you hear a clicking sound when you turn your xbox on then most likely your hdd is giving out. If you can get your xbox to boot up again you can ftp to the box and get the data off. _________________

Did you check your ide pins on the HDD and make sure you don't have any bent over?

ooh! good question Wes. lemme check. nope. all is well there.
see, it used to do this quite often. i'd try my lil fix, it would work for a few months and i was happy. the other day it just didn't do crap after i tried my usual method of repair. at first, it gave me a Error Code 6. Then a 7, and then a 13. Well, now it's just stuck on 7.
is it possible to pop this shitty HDD in a different boxes to test whether or not it truly doesn't work? i realize it's locked and that code is specific to the box it came from. is there ANY way around this? i have two other modded boxes in the house to test this HDD on. i actually tried one, but it didn't work. anyone know of a trick to help me save this data?
thanks guys.

You can pop it in a different xbox if it has a chip but my guess is the hdd is dead.
