hey all noobie here.
friend on mine just did the soft mod to my xbox last night.
man this thing is fun.
using the audio exploit.
question.
I can not seem to ftp to it.
I have an IP but ftp will not connect.
is there something special i need to do.
I am using the evox 1.8.3752
is that the best one to be using.
Also have on there media center 4-30-2004
is that the best one?
how do I install more apps to it?
probably gotta get ftp access first eh.?
also one other question (might be kinda stupid)
I have the Xbox Mic - for the xbox karoke (kids love it)
is there a way that I can use CD +G now that i have the soft mod?
is there an app that i need to use?

We only have a few members here that have done the soft mod but they are not really active much.. I personally havent done one yet but they are sounding very easy..
If you have evox dashboard already on the xbox that means you can boot backups and xbox apps/emus etc..
Some tips:
Use the Xbox HQ Autoinstaller v1.3final to install all the latest apps for you automatically.. All you have to do is download the file and burn it to a DVD-R/CDRW and boot in your xbox. A menu will come up and let you cohose what you want installed and where..
There is even a .PDF tutorial to walkthrough install stuff.
I WOULD NOT SUGGEST FORMATTING YOUR XBOX HDD USING ANY INSTALLER since you are running a SOFT MOD!
- I HAVE NO EXPERIENCE WITH FORMATING A SOFT MOD -
The XBOX HQ AI will work fine to install applications without a hitch!

Thanks for the reply.
I fixed my FTP issue.
I was hooking it straight up to my cable through a hub, it had an IP and all but was not in the same range, like you said.
I bought a router last night hooked it up and away she went.
FTP worked great.
I will download the autoinstaller and try it out
I have evox on there and it seems to be working great, and after getting the latest XBMC I'm starting to learn how to use it.
you are right the soft mod is very simple. as long as none of the new games try to update the xbox live part then it should stay working.
I mainly wanted to just give it a try to see what it was like and help me decided if I wanted to actually do a mod chip.
I am thinking now that it might just happen down the road here.
a 120gb drive would be nice too hehehe
I have another question.
So far i have mainly been getting .ISO and burning them to DVD.
I got one that is just a Data folder and a .xbe, how does that work? do i just make a DVD of that or do I ftp that up to the games folder?

Hi Zen-Dragon,
When you have a default.xbe and other folders that means you need to create a XISO using XISO TOOLS..
Download QUIX from our NORMAL DOWNLOADS section and use it to make a XISO (.iso) file of the directory with the default.xbe in it.
http://xbox-hq.com/html/downloads.html (XISO TOOLS CATEGORY)
Then burn the .iso file like normal.
Anyway, Maybe you could write a small tutorial for us on how to do a soft mod.. We need as much info as possible.. Very few members have done it. We would all appreciate it.. Do it in any format you like. WORD (.doc), html, or pdf.
