Hi there everybody . Im in need of great help lol. Recently (just yesterday) my Xbox DVD drive wouldnt open. It would make the noises and stuff inside and make a click sound and the tray would just twitch but remain fully inside. So yesterday night i pulled apart my xbox and had a look at the DVD drive. It still wouldnt open so i took the metal casing off of it....and guess what it, it opened. So im just wondering if anybody else has had a problem like this, and if anybody could give me some help with this. Ive tried everything, even tried to slighty reshape it hoping it was just getting in the way, preventing it from opening with no luck. So please i would appreciate any help that anybody can give me please . Thankyou all and sorry for writing so much

Sorry guy but that can be lots of things never know till i look at stuff like this but from the sounds of it i wold check the gears to make sure its not sliping.
Or you might want to keep the case open and leve it hooked up try the button and see if you can eyeball what going wrong.
Sorry im not much help but thats the kind of thing you got to see to know.

Yea i know what you mean, i open it and everything when the drive is out and hooked up, but it still wont work. Its not the gears though, because it opens perfectly fine when the metal casing isnt on, but i cant really see why it wont open because of the case. But owell....thanks for the help anyway and thanks for replying

Might want to try takeing off the face plate at the frunt of the tray the part that has xbox on it lift strait up it will come off then give it a try.
If all fails and your plan is to get a new drive anyway hell i wold use hitting eject and pulling it out at the same time as a last resort never can tell.
If you got to scrap it mail me the case i really need one i got a good samsung drive with a bent up case

Hey people! Thanks for all your help!. But i finally found out what was wrong . It had something to do with the magnet that held the spindle on the casing properly. So i weakened it by adding tape between them.
