I like the Xecuter 2.3blite+, but I'd recommend going with a soldered one. I have one modchip that is soldered (2.3blite) and one that is not (2.3blite+). Sometimes, even the slightest of jars will upset the solderless one. One time, I VERY carefully picked up the solderless one and VERY carefully set it down and I still had to open it up and realign the chip!
If you plan on transporting it from time-to-time or using it in a vehicle, as I do (but not while driving ), then you really should go the soldered route. I may end up shipping my solderless one off to RealMccloy to get it fixed up right! _________________ The World's Most Awesome Xbox 360 Room

I have never used a solderless install. I have always used the pin header method.
Also, if you have a 1.6 version machine you will most likely only be able to use a pin header install. I know that is true with Xenium chips not sure if anyone else's chip will work solderless on the 1.6 version.
Shirmk has a solderless install and seems to be very happy with it. I guess it's like anything else that you buy, sometimes you get better results than others.
Which ever way you decide to go also keep in mind other features of the chip.
From my experience, solderless is solderless they all seem pretty much the same. Also look at the chip's OS and how it's flashed and how you cloak it for Xbox Live. Take everything in before making a decision which chip you buy.
I am pretty sure the X23's are no longer in production, not that you won't be able to find one. The X3 chip is going to be taking it's place and I have seen them advertised already for sale.
Another thing I do like about the X23's, and Xeniums is the amount of documentation that you can find on them.

Don't take my previous post in the wrong manner. My solderless modchip isn't ALWAYS misaligning. It's probably become misaligned 3-4 times since April.
I travel heavily with my Xbox... it's probably travelled over 10,000 miles (or ~15,000km in modernized countries) in my car. I just need to be sure to bring a few tools along! _________________ The World's Most Awesome Xbox 360 Room

You do though bring up a solid point. I am sure there are a perentage of people that do have misaligning issues. It is unfortunately a possible issue that all solderless chips can encounter.
However you look at it, you definitely gave solid advice...nothing taken in the wrong manner at all. _________________ Good Deals: Death@Hand, funkydopenloven, StaticMind, Slamscaper, PorscheXboxter

I would highly recomend soldering and using the pinheader installation method (if available). I am a newb and I thought going the solderless route would be more beneficial; but I soon figured out that I was much better off growing some balls and soldering the chip on instead. If you have never soldered before it is nothing to be afraid of. It is actually pretty fun and easy, just be sure to practice first!

Hey Guys, sorry I missed this thread earlier.
This is where I am with my solderless chameleon chip. Dropped the xbox 4 times from waste level, traveled approximatly 12,000 miles in the last year by car, ridden on the belly of an airplane 4 times, constantly gets moved from tv to tv, and been opened many hundred times to update, NEVER once had to realign the modchip.
This goes the same for the two other chameleon modchips I've installed. All three, mine and the two others, have now been installed about a year.
I've talked to a couple other guys and worked on some more peoples xboxs with solderless chips, and what Ive found is that in most cases its a simple problem that they didnt want to screw down the mod chip hard in fear of breaking the mother board. I worked on two of these peoples and all I had to do was realign the chip and tighten the screw. Then havent had a problem since that time with thier chip moving on them.
Anyways I hope this was of some help, if anyone has anyother questions, go ahead and pm me or post them here. _________________ XBOX v1.0:

You very well may be right. In the instructions for the X2.3blite+ is sez "...use the screw supplied with the mod to screw back in place. Now here is where you MUST be careful. It is very easy to tighten too much and then strip the hole - which means you will never get a good solid contact." I definitely did NOT tighten mine too tight. However, I certainly could have left it too loose.
Next time mine misaligns, which may be never, I'll try it out. _________________ The World's Most Awesome Xbox 360 Room
